Evening all.
l am looking at changing the tent set up on my camper. At the moment i have the standard run of the mill roof top tent on my Viper, and looking at going to one of those fibreglass hard lid roof top tent setups, similar to this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Craig-Car-Roof-Top-Tent-Camping-Outdoor-Camper-Hard-Shell-4wd-Rooftop-Pop-Up/140916822965?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140410092834%26meid%3D671bbc570f8b495f92146efcbbc2dc72%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D131595316702#shpCntId (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Craig-Car-Roof-Top-Tent-Camping-Outdoor-Camper-Hard-Shell-4wd-Rooftop-Pop-Up/140916822965?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140410092834%26meid%3D671bbc570f8b495f92146efcbbc2dc72%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D131595316702#shpCntId)
Do any swaggers have one on either the camper or the car, or have had one ?...just after your thoughts
And finally has anyone seen them for sale or on display in the Newcastle area as i will be in Newy on Wednesday

That looks like a rip off of the James Baroud tents. They're meant to be very good but 3-4times more expensive. :)

Only ever looked at the ones in BCF, thought them to be a bit claustrophobic for my liking .. being on tall side there wasnt that much room either end when stretched out and it wasnt over wide to give room to move about inside the tent, would have been uncomfortable with a second person in there .. The mattress in it wasnt real flash either to go with the $2000 price tag.
Have seen double bed size ones listed on Amazon though that might give a better feeling of space to move ...

Kev,
Just wondering why you are considering a change of tent .... Did you end up doing that ?
If you don,t mind me asking ....
Were you happy with the quality of the tent that came with the trailer and did it get tested in bad conditions ?
Cheers Ian

Hi Ian
hope all is well. Absolutely nothing wrong with the tent, plenty of room, def good quality -easy to set up etc....
I do a lot of mountain bike riding, so i was thinking about throwing a Maggiolina type tent and was hoping that a bike carrier would fit neatly next to it, if that makes sense ?//
My 80 series is pretty high so i was just thinking out side the box. Its like texting, sometimes a post comes across the wrong way
So far the only complaint real mod to make it better is some large mud flaps off the stonegaurd to protect the trailer. Got peppered by rocks on my desert trip, but apart from that it is great
Kind regards
Kev

Here are my pros and cons as posted once before having used a Autohome Columbus fibreglass hard shell unit over 4 years.
Pros
Genuine 30 second set up.
Solid and can cope easily with bad weather.
Can fix wiring and lighting to shell.
Canvas protected by shell when travelling.
Aerodynamic.
Can leave bedding set up.
Cons
Space for a family. Great for 2, but limited for any more.
More expensive than canvas RTT but will last many years longer.
