Title: Firewood - Western suburbs of Melbourne
Post by: saint camp on June 08, 2015, 06:44:45 PM
Good evening all,

My Mars camper is being collected on Friday! Ill post pics!

I am heading down the Great Ocean Rd for a test trip in a few weeks and will be making my fire drum this week from an old washing machine :)

Does anybody out west of Melbourne collect fire wood for their trips? where do you go and what are the rules/laws that I need to be mindful off? I obviously don't want to do the wrong thing.

I can get a trailer load of wood delivered for anything between $130 - $150 but Id prefer to get my own.

Thanks :)

Is this for household harvesting or for camping purposes.

I have asked the question about collect wood for a camp fire on other forums and it seems there are a lot of different rules even with in a general area

as a rule for any government controlled land you can only remove firewood timber from approved/designated areas and within the time period advised.  The key item here is the word 'remove'

In addition to the above if a camping area is approved for campfires (outside of total fire ban days) then you can usually collect and burn fallen timber, but 'not remove' it from the location.
