I just thought I would throw it out there and ask where and how has everyone mounted there maxtraxs to there vehicle, camper trailer or caravan.
Ideally I could just stick them on the roof rack of the patrol but when towing the camper I would prefer if there on the camper somewhere.

Why the preference to have them on the trailer Mav?
If they have a designated home on the tug roof rack then they will be with you whoever you need them.
If on the trailer then you will need to move them whenever you do a trip without the trailer.
I think we can all see where this will inevitably lead...

The reason behind multiple locations is because I can't leave them permantly on the roof rack as I only have 10mm clearance in the garage with a platform rack.
I thought if I permantly mount them to the camper then once setup I can just ocky strap them to the rack when out exploring. If there on the camper permantly obviously apart from out on the tracks then I don't have to keep removing them every time I get home.
The missus doesn't want them stored on the spare bed in the house anymore.

I'm thinking of getting a set, mainly for towing the Goldie on Bribie this year & though I'm assuming they're UV treated, I'm going to keep them in an old tent bag I have, firstly to keep them out of the sun & secondly, making sure they're not too hot to handle after sitting up on the roof or in the back of my 'tilley all day. Perhaps they don't get very hot but "Out of sight, out of mind" also comes into play.

Fair enough, although your missus sounds a tad unreasonable!
Would they fit on the lid of the tool box, or on their side behind the stone guard?
I have 2 sets of McGirr's tracks, when travelling they live in their 'incognito bags' on the roof rack.
The rest of the time up against the wall in the garage.
When I finish the rack for the trailer they may have an alternative home on top.

Thanks Geoff.
That's a great idea. I may end up doing that, I was just after something totally different

I did consider on top of the front tool box. However the missus has to stand on the box when packing up the camper so I really don't think she would enjoy standing on them.
I did consider up against the rear of the stone guard

I have a pair of McGirr's trax. They fit east-west at the front of my ARB roof rack, tucked under the backwards leaning front rail and in front of the solar panels. It's a space not much else will fit.

A '10 step' process to mount them on the spare wheel.
Almost as difficult as giving up the p!ss! >:D

Takes longer to read it than to do it......

2 occy straps and a zip tie to mount on the spare wheel .

I use a set of these directly into my roof racks. But they'll fit most racks/trays

I replaced the glass in the ARB canopy window with a alloy equivalent
works well, with the genuine maxtrax mounting pins
I sold my gen 1 maxtrax so I could get the gen2 type with the mounting pins and do this
these have been in position like this for 50k and lots of offroad driving/ conditions and still stay affixed.

Looks good. Something totally different

Iam with B&B I leave mine on the Cruza so I have them all the time. I was going to try a set of there Treds mounts to see if they suited Jules tracks I bought.
-
I would leave them on the patrol all the time but don't have the clearance with the garage door.
So if I mount them on the camper and just throw them on the patrol when we leave camp.

Tuck your keys in behind the trax when stored, that way you won't forget the vehicle. 8)

What odds the one time you forget them, is the time you need them??.... >:D

I never thought that far ahead.
That spare tyre mount is looking better by the minute.
