Hey guys,
well, i've got 3 months and I want to get over to exmouth and back to Brisbane.
Leaving 30th of March.
What I'd like to do is
Emerald
West Macdonnell ranges.
Uluru & Surrounds (olgas etc)
Karajini Nat park
Exmouth (swim with whale shark)
Broome / Derby
Horizontal Falls
Kakadu
So much to see and do and so little time.
We will be solo travelling in a pretty well setup mits Challenger towing Vacation Camper with 2 kids 8 and 9.
Am I biting off more than I can chew for a 3 month holiday?

definitely do able but remember when in Exmouth your not guaranteed to swim with the wale shark on the day you plan to , as they may not be any spotted close by at the time. And whilst over that way why not go to shark bay to feed the dolphins at monkey mia.
There is a good chance it will be scorching hot up north west that time of the year

Thanks fishfinder. We've actually been to sharkbay / monkey Mia.

Definitely doable. You will have lots of time in the car with that many kms but would be worth it for the destinations you have mentioned.
Which way do you plan to go across to WA?
-
I'm thinking Gunbarrel from Wiluna to Meekathara then either up the Northern Hwy or across to the coast.
Any suggestions?
Then coming back would be via Broome, Darwin, and depending on time, Normanton or Down the stuart back to the Barkly

Sounds dooable just acouple of things
If you are going to do Kakadu go to Litchfield as well
Broome you only need a couple of days you can only watch the sun go down so many times
Same with Darwin it is OK but just another city

We were in Alice Springs (5 nights) and Yulara (2 nights) a couple of weeks ago. We would have stayed longer but OMG it was HOT!! The West Macs were beautiful (we didn't do all the gorges...too hot) and didn't do Kings Canyon or Finke. I reckon you could spend a week in that area and be flat out trying to do everything. We also came into Alice via the East Macs....not as dramatic landscape, but the absolutely stunning nonetheless. In fact, I love that we didn't see anyone else when we came through there but saw some pretty spectacular scenery. We did sunset and sunrise at Uluru, sunset at Kata Tjuta and would love to have done a longer walk through the Olgas, but they close the tracks in the heat and conditions were not conducive for keeping our three kids under five in the reasonably happy and content zone ;) I did a sunrise Uluru camel trek and LOVED it!! Highly recommended :)
There's also lots to do around Alice Springs. The kids loved the reptile centre, black-footed and school of the air.I could quite happily spend at least a month exploring The Centre....so much to see and do!

Yes you will. Just be prepared to have a few optional days in the schedule. The Falls for example are set so you know what your getting but some people really like Kakadu and some not as much so those areas give you the option to oull up stumps, cruise on. You might then stay at Keep national Park on the way to Broome eg.
