A local small village country road house with motoring memorabillia gets a warning from Big brother government by daring to have retro bike and other signage displays on their face book and outdoors dislay .... Wonder how Goggle and most TV stations go showing images, seem to recall a major ch tv show showing quite a few on a tribute to Peter Brock and other racing retro shows recently ..
So how do the Bathurst and other museums get on with old tobacco signed machines and displays I wonder ...

I've never known anyone who watched a bike or car race and then thought Shit I need to start smoking X brand smokes cause they won the race..
-
Reckon they should change the Marl part to Mull and see what reaction that gets ... Who ever it was who complained needs to take a truck load of laxettes and loosen up a bit .
-
I'd change the L to a T with a really small black line or the last O to an A.
Na mate, it says Martboro, or Marlbora ;D
Robbo...
-
the country has gone mad. Geez now i need a smoke after seeing this, whered i put those marlbora's :)
-
If you google up Marlboro, there are hundreds of images, I wonder if the Australian is going to take them to task. ???
cheers duggie

Could always change it to "Marlborough"
Sorry, sir, you are mistaken.
It is "MarlboroUGH" , not "MarlborO".
It's a place in England, not a tobacco brand. ;D

Anyhow * as Hoges used to say . Any of the Old naughty signs on cars have to be blurrrrred out so we can watch & try to remember what was on the door or roof . Who wants a 30 year old smoke anyway

Can appreciate your comment but if that was the case, why do brand managers spend thousands or millions in the case of tobacco firms, on sponsorship, product placement, advertising, etc? One piece of promotion might not influence a potential consumer but the drip drip effect does, at least for a significant percentage of the population.

i'm not sure about smokes.. but i really want a big motorbike now.. ;D

no one has noticed Mr Plod parked on the wrong side of the road WITHOUT his warning lights going. >:(

Change it to Mullbarrow.

Change it to Mullbarrow.
I don't think that would work either...
They'd get you on your "intent"...
But if you want to think about it from the other side of the coin for a minute - imagine if some tricky goon from big tobacco suddenly figured out that big bikes with tobacco logos were allowed....
You may guess what would happen next... gazillions of such said product placements...
shoot, they (big T) could even be as tricky as sponsoring Big Bike Builders - to get their logos prominently displayed e v e r y w h e r e ...
na - tear em down...

Do we expunge the likes of Hitler from the history books? Is this really that different?

It's only an issue as its in the view of the public and is used as advertising. The public are welcome to go inside and check the real ones out.
It's not rocket science.
