Just had a look at the new colorardo dual cab none had a cd player in the "mylink"audio system wtf they want you to use your phone and play the music from it or go and buy a ipod to hook it into their system !! you pay $40000 plus no cd player even my 2005 model dunnydoor has a cd player in its sound system
-
Yep. CD's are finished.
Does it have a USB input? Memory sticks are FAR more convenient than CD's.
-
yes mate has all the usb, blue tooth and sockets of every description places to plg phone .ipod .ipad but no cd player spose i better learn how to put music onto those things then, the only place i found that could may be take a cd was the vertical air con vent !!
-
CD player? Didn't the reel to reel make them obsolete? Lol
I can't remeber the last time I picked up a cd.
-
What's a CD? We have a tape player. We use 30min tapes as its a better quality medium.

Has something replaced the 8 track ??? ??? ??? Noooooooo say it isn't so

most of my cd are compressed format albums 2 on the one side of the disc and doubled sided that why i want a cd player
-
Chuck them on a memory stick. You won't regret it.
-
The older I get, the worse my memory sticks. Think I would regret it GeoffA

Why would you want one. They get scratched, warp, fly around the cab.
Mate a 128gb card in the phone & I have about 4mths worth of songs without hearing a repeat. Love Bluetooth.

Should see the reaction I get from my girls when they ask me to put some music on and I pull out a cassette and pop it in.

i've actually started buying CD's again rather than digital music. Gives far better sound and music quality for listening at home and enjoying the tunes.
That said...listening to the computer now as I sip beers looking over Lake Mulwala

Agreed, but it's so easy to buy digital music.
Actually, vinyl is still king in this house for the late nite sessions.
Wonder when we can get one of these again!

At home, I listen to CD's. Much nicer than compressed stuff (CD's are digital btw....), but inconvenient in the car.
Mace, I threw my TT out years ago, but I still have my LP's......dunno why....
-
:cheers:Yea CDs are not going anywhere just yet.......on the flip side the 2011Lexus sc430 still had a radio cassette/cd I wonder if anything newer had them? Tata or Great Wall maybe?
Cheers

Obviously digital music in the form of compressed music on phones, flash drives , hard drives etc are the easiest form of music currently. However, if you want better sound (ie no loss in the song quality) then CDs are still superior. This is an interesting article :http://mobile.pcauthority.com.au/Article.aspx?CIID=396273&type=Feature

^ I couldn't agree more about CDs and sound quality. But that's predictable, given the 15" Tannoys sitting in our living room.
Anyway, the six stacker in SWMBO's car will also play anything - mp3, MP4 ... At whatever compression ratio one is prepared to tolerate ...

2005 was a few months ago now....

I have the 2014 colly. The mylink is definitely a good idea. It will drive my iPhone seamlessly and I hear there is more apps to come for the mylink.

Agreed. You can hear the difference.
It is important to retain ephemera for future generations. Future generations will want to own a collectors copy of LPs like 'Concert for Bangladesh' or an original single of 'Purple people eater'. Maybe not so much 'Hits of 1976'.
