Title: Cert 4 instrumentation course, anyone done it recently?
Post by: Muckinhell on July 16, 2014, 08:52:17 PM
hi, as the title suggests, im looking at doing the cert 4 instrumentation course at tafe to add to my recent electrical liscence. my main concern is how much more difficult was it theory/math wise compared to the electrical theory math etc. I dont wont to orgainse the time and money to do the course to just fail it miserably....

i went through the electrical tafe course and finished last year with 80% succes rate give or take in some areas and loved it and would like to go onwards with this added ticket etc.

any help or info appreciated thanks.

PM me if you want to have a chat about it. I work at a tafe where we teach it and could get one of the teachers to talk with you if you need.

cool thanks guys, yeah no experience but looking at some time between jobs shortly and thought when is a better time to be able to get something knocked over and have an extra feather in the cap along with couple other tickets etc.

Well all done and dusted now, was an awsome course, specially the 2 weeks of plcs. also did a high voltage switching ticket wich I wont use if i can avoid it, thats a scary side of the industry, and did a install electrical and inspection in hazardous areas cert4 too. Applied for and got a WA A grade leccy liscence too.

if anyone has any tips on getting into the bigger jobs like barrow island/wheatstone in WA other than submitting to their websites etc id love to hear about it. And maybe a sample cover letter i could look to change mine too as i think that could be letting me down somehow. thanks in advance.
