Im after a dual cab for around 10-15 grand .im thinking a rodeo 2004-2008 diesel (isuzu).
Was going to get a newish triton but now budget wont allow .

In my opinion the navaras are the best looking dual cab utes and you would get a good 2004 to 2006 dual cab diesel in that price range.

I had a single cab - cab chassis 2008, it had the worst suspension of any car I've ever owned when running without weight on the back. A real bone shaker!

Good 3 litre motors in the Isuzu and rodeos.. You can't go to wrong with that choice of two

suspension is a simple fix if that's the only issue
my Rodeo TF petrol had 330,000 on the clock when I sold it.. it got the arse flogged out of it towing race bikes and trailers around country for years.

You would get an early Ranger/BT50 for that money, best engine in that era by a long shot ! We still have a bunch of the early Rangers here at work, get flogged and not loved and never give any hassles, heard of a few electricity supply owned Rangers having some clutch issues, but mostly from being overloaded all the time, with so much grunt on tap people would get lazy and not use low range etc.

Forget the Navara if you plan on taking adults in the back, pre teen kids would be ok just. My old man went from a GU to a 2006 DC, the 3ltr is good but its cramped as buggery in the back and front.
The next model up D40 i think look roomier but then cost more $$$$.

Something with coils on the front.
Try to avoid anything with torsion bars.

+1 for early PJ Ranger. We have a 2009 PK and they are awesome. ;D

In my bios opinion, I recommend a Mahindra Pikup dual cab ute..

This one has plenty of fruit -- canopy, snorkle, winch etc.. O.K. it's $17990 .. that's 2.2L model that comes standard with diff lock.

This one is $12990 for a 2012 model -- seems a bit too cheap -- just check it was not on mine duty
It's quite easy to purchase pre 2011 2.5L models quite cheaply about $9000 to $14000, but those don't come with rear diff lock, or cruise control, and the 2.5L engine does not have power of the 2.2L engine.
These utes seats 5 adults no probs (they have a huge cabin) plus dual air con, they 4WD great, good quite ride, lovely quite diesel with no flat spots etc.

Would be silly not to give the Mahindra a test like cyber suggests.
Some great value there. Wish they had coil front suspension (unless its changed now of course).

The older shape triton is what you want to look for. You'll get a turbo diesel with under 200000 for 10-15g. And they're a good rig too.
Apart from hilux which you'll only get and an ever older and high Kim for, the tritons seem to go the distance as far as older dual cab 4x4s go.
Look around and you'll still see quite a few older tritons (and pajeros) still ticking along. Same cant really be said for a lot of the other models.
I had a rodeo it was quite a decent ute but after 200000klms it was getting pretty tired.
Next pick would be a D22 navara
Then a low k TF rodeo
Stay away from older Mazda bravo and ford courier utes. They seem to fall to bits after about 200000ks

It didn't shine in any other area either, I was very glad to divest myself of it ;)

Still looking around ..... we move into our new house in 5weeks so im waiting to see what sort of money I have left .
Bt 50 ... ford rangers look good also as does the mahindra .
