We bought our first house, We are a little late to the party, being in our 50's but no more renting ;D
We could have bought the house we are renting, we have been here for 22 years. We finally get to move out of the city (Perth) and live in the country (Kalannie)
We have been in negotiations since Feb and it's nearly over, just have to wait for settlement in 2 weeks and we are good to go.
Just wanted to share the moment ;D

It's a great feeling that you can hang a favourite photo up and not have a landlord or agent to approve first.
Well done.
Now pay it off as fast as you can!! If applicable - Just a little tip. Check the rules at the time - but when you reach preservation age to access super (55+) look into a tradition to retirement strategy. You can take up to 10% of you balance per year in simple terms to help you pay off the loan - Assuming there is one of course!! Hopefully not but if there is then worth checking out. Enjoy.

Kalannie ?? That will definitely be a change of pace from Perth. We spent 5 years there, left in 2000.

Congrats
Swannie

Arrr The Landed Gentry .. Well Done :cup:
-
Congrats Graeme, enjoy the new pad!
-
Thanks everyone :)
We won't have to worry about payments because we are lucky enough to pay cash for it. It is big enough for family to visit for weekends etc, 6 bedroom 2 bathroom.
We are really looking forward to the quite life.

Talk about a small world, how did you find it and did you move because of work?
It sure will make a change, a total of 200 people, one shop and a bowling club ;D
We have had enough of the traffic etc of Perth. We have always wanted to move to the country and we have been lucky enough to buy this house outright.
At least we can just lockup and leave when we want to go camping, without worrying if the house will be there when we return.

Sweet. Even better. Congrats

6 bedroom eh, sounds like a brethren home. ;D
Wasn't to bad a place, plenty of good people. Worked on a farm there, moved to an area we thought had a better school.
If your after quiet, I think you found it !

Congrats.
We went to Kalannie over the long weekend just gone.

Steve,
Yep it's a Brethren home, there are a few of them, They have relocated to Lesmurdie.
Even though there are only the three of us, we wanted the extra room for the kids and grandkids so they can stay over the weekend etc.
The first thing we will have done to the house is a 5KW solar system, along with a new Apricus Solar Hot Water System.
The house has a main ducted evaporative that services the 4 of the bedrooms, lounge and kitchen, another ducted revers cycle does the family room and two back bedrooms and there are three revers cycle split systems throughout the house as well. Plus two electric hot water systems, one 80L the other 120L. So the 5KW system will take care of the electricity needs.
Wilsurf,
Were you camping nearby? When we get settled and if you are out that way again, you will have to drop in and say hi :)
