For some reason I am not as sad about this. He lived a long life, got to do what he loved and earned a lot of money in the process and got the opportunity to lead a very comfy life.
-
Rip mate a true legend
-
Mark and I saw him at Phillip Island a few weeks ago....still getting out there and meeting the fans at 88.... :cup: :cup:

Sorry that sounded sarcastic. What I meant was thats the kind of thing family like to hear.
-
Yes. He had a wonderful life rich with opportunity. I am going to celebrate and express gratitude for him and maybe crack a beer for him tonight.

jeez, that's a bit sad. Condolences to the family.
Spose he'll be catching up with Harry Firth then and all his buddies that didn't survive the crazy days of F1 in the 60's & 70's

Another aussie legend gone. RIP.
I waited in line to meet him and sign my copy of his autobiography some time ago. He signed the book with a personal message, then we chatted for a few minutes about his thoughts on F1 at the time. A very intelligent and insightful bloke, and a brilliant engineer. What a life he had!

Yeah I agree, and I did :cup:
-
RIP Sir Jack.
A career that will never be matched.
Pioneered the rear engine formula car and was the first man to race the Indy 500 with a rear engine car.
The yanks laughed at him when he turned up, Sir Jack finished the race in the top 10. The following year a rear engine car won and after that every Indy car was rear engined.
-
Good innings Jack. Well Done.
Led the way in a lot of things, besides F1.
-
RIP Jack, another one gone [Jack that is].
Although not famous for his quotes, his best was "Back when I drove F1's, the sex was safe but the car could kill you"... still laugh at that.
