setting the gps to the shortest route whilst driving the little hatcback and in central vic bush country, in wet conditions was probably not my wisest move. but after keeping up momentum to not get bogged in the clay base tracks, navigating rocks, puddles, tight bends and glancing a wallaby i finally came out the other end and was able to breath a sigh of relief.....now off to get a pie from the rushworth bakery :)

getting there is the adventure

you would be surprised just where you can get with a front wheel drive hatch ,lol
I've had to climb out and put hubs in as my daughter just drives on by laughing all the way..
That coarse you did is paying for it self even though not in your 4wd..
cheers

lindamc So you made it to the Rushworth Bakery , Did you have a Vanilla slice as well ???
Lets get back to just where you went getting lost in the gold fields ??? Did you have a map or just the GPS ???
Most of the country out that way you should be able to do in 2WD might be fun but doable :cup:

hello speewa, i waved as i drove through nagambie :).
gps. driven quite a few of the tracks in the area now but this was the first time in the i30 and first time on the ones i did today and i think first time in the rain. if it was dry would be a walk in the park but the rain had turned the clay tracks from graytown to rushy into mushy slippery mess . was interesting.

and i purposely chose shortest route cos i like the adventure of seeing different parts ...but i didnt count on the clay

Greytown to Rushy , in the rain , Ummm that could be fun . ls that the last time you trust Dashbitch ( she is evil ) ???
Mostly people don't take that road as its not a great place to get stuck in ;D

shortest route, theres been some stories in the news over time of people getting taken to hell... one dude got stuck in his car 1/2 way up mt skene in the snow for 2 days years ago... thus how the permit scheme started
-
Taking into account wheel spin verses distance travelled /fuel used ??? Next Time

Linda,
That's what made it an enjoyable and exciting trip on a very poor day.
Well done.

i prefer to take the long route but after a night on the plonk and the missus wants to go for a drive the short route is inevitable because the effects of the booze makes the GPS under perform ;D
