Post by: Shelbyright on May 05, 2014, 11:05:42 PM
Getting up to NSW on Friday to pick up the Kakadu, its a 2013 demo model but got them to update to the new slide out kitchen pantry etc. just wanted to ask what things i need to look for on the camper, and mods i should consider in the future.

Cheers,

George

Hi George, very exciting for you. Can't help with suggestions on the CC Kakadu but shout out if you are looking for camp site ideas around the Bowral area on the way back home.

George, also not sure about any mods BUT you may need to sort out a towing permit - unless CC have done it for you, also you may need to put the CT over a weighbridge to get it registered in Vic.

Good luck with the pickup.

Great choice in campers. Hope you can post some pics when you get the opportunity. Certainly in tas the trailer would need weighbridge certificate before registering.

We had a CC soft floor for about 5 years. Only mods done in that time was to convert one of the side compartments into a pantry by adding some shelving and adding a provision for a curtain and pole to run along aside the bed to give us some visual privacy from the kids (or the kids some visual privacy from us  ;) ). We also had them manufacture a stand for the drawbar to hold the gas HWS. They now offer this as a standard option. I'd be really surprised if you have to do much at all as they are the duck's guts! Only issue we experienced was moisture leaking into the front toolbox through the locks. CC replaced locks and resealed them but it was still an issue up until we sold it last December. Easy issue to deal with as we just used to lay the folded cover over the top of the box/locks when camped. Enjoy your camper! You'll have many years of great camping and the after sales service from Grant and team is awesome!

Hi George

I picked up my Uluru XT back in Jan 2013.  Allow about 3 hours for the handover as Grant and the team will go through every aspect of the trailer with you.  You also get a whole stack of doco on all the kit fitted to the trailer.  CC will look after your permit to allow you to get it home and registered.  I haven't been able to think of a single thing I would modify on mine, except perhaps for a car topper tinny and outboard!  After sales service from CC is awesome.  I had a small problem with the 15 amp plug and it was sorted immediately.  If you are interested, CC is holding their annual campout from 4 - 6 Jul in Charleville this year.  You have to be a CC owner to get an invite  ;D

No doubt there'll be lots (hahaha  sorry Lost, just lost it!!) of people to get great ideas from and to copy.
Plenty to see and make notes about, take piccies of etc.

I had a Complete Campsite Kakadu XT 16, I towed it all throughout the Victorian High Country, out to Cameron Corner, down the Strezlecki Track and through the Flinders ranges without any problems, I did not take the easy path with the camper and coupled to a 200 series Landcruiser it went everywhere, and as Mrs Renno said the after sales service is second to none.  I have now traded up to a Complete Campsite Hard floor Fraser model.

George,

Just give it all a quick once over, they are pretty good there shouldn't be any dramas.
We got them to fill the water tanks up and we camped on the way home in ours,it's now nearly a year old and we love it.
Can't wait to see the pictures and the new kitchen.

Will concur with what everyone else has said.  We picked our Kakadu up in December and there isn't much to do to it. Could've used a spreader bar at Porepunkah with the 5 inches of rain but apart from that everything is sweet.  We've called Grant and the team few times just for clarification (the three hours goes fast!) and they are always a pleasure, nothing has been too hard.

ENJOY!
