Title: Waeco 80 ltr DZ
Post by: Aza on April 15, 2014, 05:54:39 PM
Anyone recommend the 80 ltr DZ ive offloaded my 47ltr arb as its far to small for a family of five and im not willing to try a ebay knock off, just wanted to know what the main issues people have with them, the guy at waeco was trying to sell me a 65cfx, but i told him that they are a wast of space, far to tall and not alot of room, he then went on to tell me about power consumption blah blah blah, i then told him i have a big battery bank and decent solar, only then did he realise it was going in the camper and the went back on everything he just told me and said, "yeah get the 80" ::)

so any advise/pros/cons, and if anyone has inside price scopes in Brisbane (Easter specials, best so far is tent world $1349) with the insulated cover, please share

We have had ours for a few years and think it is brilliant. Having the dual zone works really well.

Only down side is power consumption but it isn't outrageous. I reckon it could get by on about 120w of solar.

We have the 100ltr non DZ and think it's fantastic... Plenty of space for everything we need and loads of room for leftovers etc. Would you use the duel zone? It defiantly reduces the usable space in my option?
The only thing I would use the freezer for would be fishing bait and I don't expect to get that past SWMBO! The fridge size is down to a 40ltr engel equivalent plus the extra dairy bit. Extra power on hot days too.

Just my 2c

Ps we run this from 300a/hrs and 120w solar

i know what you mean but at least the option is there to run DZ aswell as fridge or freezer.

Can anyone tell me is the evap plate different between the single and DZ

I've got nothing negative to say, I've had a great run with mine. Works flawlessly in all weather and had it in going in some real hot temps 45c. Been great. Perfect size for a family of 5

Mine works well but is heavy on the juice you do need a bit of planning when packing as the cooling plates are only at one end so you go from cold to hot.

Would i buy one again NO i would like one of the new double door styles

But whilst ever this one is working it will be kept

Noooooooooooooooooo do not put a single doubt in my head ??? as im literally going to purchase one on sat, i did look at the primus mammoth but im not a fan of the metal inside looks cheap and nasty, looked at the engel combi and notice they have a fan in the center baffle and thermostat on the fridge side baffle wall but, far to expensive at 2k and i have already fixed one for a mate due to there cheap arse electronics, also they are noisy when they run, i think ill buy a DZ then add a digital thermostat and pc fan in the center baffle which can be unpluged  for cleaning purposes, which is not an option in the engels as the evap is attached to the divider.
