Title: Bucketing down in Central Aus!
Post by: marvellous_matt on April 09, 2014, 11:42:21 AM
We have had a dry few years In Central Australia, Last year the Todd didn't flow at all. Since the weekend we have had a bit, off and on, with some heavy showers. I emptied the rain gauge at home this morning and it had 50mm. This is good news for all swaggers planning on visiting this year, water holes will have been flushed out, and the country will start to green up.

Im not one to complain about rain, however it does make some things a little difficult, Both my wife and I have had work pushed back a week due to rain, I had the camper up at the weekend to do some tidying up and Ive not been able to pack her up as the canvas is wet, and I wanted to take it to canvas guy to get final measurement for awning. AND my work space under shade cloth is no longer any good for welding. I suppose I could wear a rain coat!

Good stuff on the rain.  Rain can be annoying  but i love the rain.  We have had a shocker here in central queensland with rain, the grain harvest around has been p!ss poor and some of my mates are barely scrapping by because what work is around doesnt pay for running the gear.

Be bit like out there for the graziers too I bet.

Another thing you could if you got kids is be a be kid yourself and play with the kids in the mud!!!

Normally I LOVE the rain, however with quite a few jobs to do before heading away Im just a little nervous.
My wife was planning on finishing work next Thursday after 11 days working out bush, then we have a month of holidays. Then they were planning on leaving tomorrow, which would mean her working through Easter, however it might get pushed back even more.

BUT there are plenty of people trying to make a living off the range lands and this will give them some great feed, hopefully they can get some good prices for stock that have been struggling for a while now.

It's currently raining here in William Creek.   We were the last (only) vehicle to get in yesterday and it looks like no one is leaving until the weekend.

Awesome
And if the rain keeps up or generally if there is around 20mm out towards the corner country the wildflowers will be out again like in 2010

William Creek Journal: Day 3.
Food supplies holding out, beer getting low.   Will need to stockpile urine soon.
Psychological strain showing, although Wilson is keeping the troupe's spirits up.
