So true.

Hardest part is to convince people to buy the slightly dearer product....especially when that person is a low income earner..
And even worse is in say a supermarket, trying to work out what IS the Australian product ??

trying to work out what IS the Australian product ??
This is the killer...
The Australian Made logo doesn't mean Shit anymore.
-
Yes it not right how you have to be a lawyer to work out where it's made.
-
Should be clear where its made and where its assembled and what percentaged of it is Australian

Simple - if its not 100% grown/made with Australian products, then it doesn't get the logo... none of this 'as long as it came within 50klms of the coast its considered Australian Made"

This also relates to the car industry. Regretfully we can all write we should do this, we should do that, they should only label Australian made if its 100% made in Australia its like a broken record, no offense intended, but we as consumers dictate who will get our money.
Apart from my kids that are 100% made in Australia, very few other things are.
Bottom line, we talk the talk but dont walk the walk, buy Australian.....but unfortunatly most dont.

This is also an interesting experiment. Again it's based in the USA, but it could easily apply here too.
If you were to strip your house of everything not made in Australia, what would be left, and could you find replacements that were made here?
MADE IN AMERICA ?? Must See! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AlexLrZ14A#ws)

We try to buy Australian made whenever we can but as many have said in the past, it's very hard to work out actually what is and isn't Australian made. When we were looking at camper trailers Australian made was an important factor in our decision making but wasn't the main factor. At the end of the day we bought an Australian made camper trailer. It ticked all the boxes for us compared to all the others we looked at. We did look at both Aussie made and imported.
I don't know how many components in our trailer are sourced and made in Australia but I am happy knowing that I'm supporting an Australian manufacture.

I agree.

Exactly that's the trick question. Sadly if it all got filtered out there wouldn't be much to buy.

dick smith tried that years ago and all he got was derision and opposition
-
We should all go and buy a Falcon ;)
Problem is that as a lucky country we can't compete with developing countries on costs. We still make some great Australian products that represent great value for money.
Love my Aussie car and camper trailer, ignore the Jeep we all have our faults :)

Yes, unfortunately a typically Australian 'tall poppy' response :(
I must make sure to look for his cheese next time I'm in Coles or Woolies ;D

And the worse thing is, it was from the very company's that claim to be Aussie Aussie Aussie, and helping Aussie farmers and Aussie this and that. Crap Coles and woollies are all about money. There would be more Aussie product in an aldi store, and I haven't even been in one of them

This is a genuine question
How did he originally make his fortune?? Wasn't it selling cheap imported components ??
FWIW, we have been buyin his cereal for years, and his peanut butter... I don't know about his Dick Cheese though....

You would be bitterly disappointed...
