What a brilliant tournament. Two days of top quality league games and a whole new concept in the NRL.
Hope it continues and grows as it will give the rugby union sevens a run for it's money. The Cowboys were
great and deserved the win. Well done boys.  :cup: :cup:

WOOHOO, we finally won something even if its only the nines, we played good footy and deserved the win, here's hoping the season proper goes just as well as this weekend did.

go away for a weekend camping and return home to see one player from my club is out for 6 weeks with an injury, on top of the 4 month injury another player copped last week in a trial match :'( :'( atleast it's not out for the season like one of the Cowboys players suffered i guess.

I agree it was a great weekend of footy and as Broncos fan and tragic Qlder, it was a great final. Congrats to the Cowboys, I am glad it was them we lost to as it really didn't upset me at all coupled with the fact that they played the better footy and were clearly the better team.

Also, I was glad it was telecast on Foxtel and not Channel Nine and it's always great hearing Vossy commentate.

The downside to the whole thing was that it was not available on free to air.

I think they should have at least shown the two semi's and the final on free TV.

It was supposed to showcase the NRL, but excluded many by its exclusivity to the Fox network.

Anyway it was nice to see the Cowboys finally put some silverware in the cabinet.

How'd the beaver go ?

I cant get over how many injury's were sustained, this will unfortunately put a negative mark on the whole tournament.

It was a great spectacle to watch at home and after talking to mates that went over there I am considering making the trip myself next year. :) :)

I love my footy and that is why I pay the $$ to have Foxtel.  Unfortunately, channel 9 has the sole rights to the two Friday night games and the Sunday match of the round.   channel 9 refuses to share rights to these games so Fox cant show the game until after it has finished on Ch 9.  Ch 9 also tell you that the first Friday night game is live and the Sunday game is live. They fill the games with adds and the game can be up to 10 mins behind live.  Shouldn't be able to advertise something is Live if it isn't.

Every other game I can watch live on Fox. They have a better footy show, better coverage and better commentators. I am not being Snobby but free to air Rugby league on ch9 is CRAP.

I agree Muzz, Fox do a much better job and the fact that 9 does not show the games live Sh*%# me.

I live not far from 1300 Smiles stadium and on the odd occasion I cant go to the games when played in Townsville I can hear the crowd and fireworks from my lounge room. the noises are all in time with what is going on "Live" on the TV when watching it on Fox and not delayed like on ch9.

Can't say I'm as fanatical about the game as you guys seem to be. I enjoy watching the coverage, regardless of the hosting rights. Its not life threatening if I miss it though. Cant say I'm all that wrapped with any of the "footy shows". My beef, it it was, is that if the NRL are trying to market their product, making it available to free to air would arguably reach a greater audience.
