As some of you will know we have been tripping round Oz, but that got cut short for an opportunity we could not refuse, to become Farmers! Yeah! Minimum wage (or less) for 7 days a week 12 hr days, WooHooo!
Yes many of you will think we are mad (probably we are) but Farming is what is in our blood and we could not deny it any more.
Anyway…. so our Goldstream has gone, but we ned to replace it with a solid off road CT.
Added to the Farming venture, we are expecting our 4th Bub, so, the CT needs to comfortably fit the 6 of us.
Mum and Dad, and then 8yrs, 6yrs, 4yrs and bump.
Our Criteria is:
Easy to set up
Absolutely bare minimum poles pegs and ropes
Solid, proper off road ability for serious bush camping, We do NOT do caravan parks (Well with 4 kids, caravan parks don't do US)
Under $10,000.
So, all knowing Swaggers, help me filter through the minefield that is the CT market. What do you suggest?

Have to be thinking trak shak for the extra sleeping space with minimum setup. I don't think you get much awning ... but you can't have everything! Perhaps add a quick gazebo for more outdoor cover.
All the soft floors are going to be a bit painful I reckon as you need a big tent for the 4 kids (unless you want to cram them into bunks?) and the awnings all have their fair share of poles and pegs.

Thanks guys, I had narrowed it down to tambo, customline, trackabout and Cameron.
I really really want a Cameron with the concept tent top, off road trailer and kidz room (and dreaming about a moon roof!) but don't think I'll find one under $10k
I initially liked the TrakShaks but wondered about the long term use. My kids will all happily sleep together now, but not sure what therapy might be required if I'm still asking my teenage boys to sleep together..... Right next to mum and dad..... Especially if mum has had a wine..... ;-)
Thanks everyone. I can narrow the field now and just patiently wait for the right one to come up.
I'll keep you all posted.

Adventure off road CT, ticks all the boxes you like, but maybe a few more bucks then you want to spend.

x2. I bought a 2nd hand Tracky Safari. Very happy. With the 11ft tent you would all fit in (at the moment anyway  )
-
Yeah didn't mind the safari's. Mrs loves the 'moon roof' that the Cameron's and all terrains have. Not a deal breaker but happy wife happy camping....
No all terrain advocates care to chime in?

So just a little update. We are taking delivery of a 2009 Full off Road All Terrain on Sunday. The All terrains seem to be well respected in the off road toughness category, it has a really nice SS kitchen, the moon roof (kept the mrs happy) and an add on kids room that whilst I know I'll add 30mins to the setup/pack down time, will give heaps of extra room for long stays. It is a 17ft tent so even without the kids room we will all fit.
It is very 'bare bones' and has virtually no bells and whistles, but I like that, it means I can now make it our own.
Very excited to be getting a CT again. The last 3 months without one has been hell!!
Off to start my own CT thread so that I can keep it updated with any mods.
Woohoo!!! Can't wait.
