Title: Coastwatch Australia - 8pm Thursday on channel 7
Post by: Jason B on January 30, 2014, 06:14:21 AM
Coast watch Australia starts tonight. I can't wait to see how the show turned out and how they cut the footage to make the viewing interesting. I hope to get a good laugh out of it at the expense of a few colleagues.  ;D

Whilst I was involved in a couple of the incidents I think I managed to keep my head off camera (good head for radio), I hope.

Tune in if its of interest, it modelled off and made by the same crew who did the New Zealand series.

I am not in the glamour shots BD. Refer to my first post for the reason for that one. I have been told I will be in season two! So hopefully you won't watch this season and it will tank, then I am off the hook!

There will be quite a few story's covered along the Murray down you neck of the woods Mr, and some of our jobs with commercial fishers around Lake Cowal if they didn't end up on the cutting room floor.

I wonder how the boss liked paying the OT for the Nemesis crew. 8-10hrs just to get to the rescue location!  :'(

Job well done.  :cup:

We only recover people. We don't recover 4wd's in rivers/hills/snow etc - that's their problem (and expense) but I would have thought a vessel would be recovered. Although would have made it a slow trip back to shore.

Yeah a bit odd, in all the recoveries we have been involved in the vessel has been towed. The conditions didn't look to bad either. Maybe it was deemed to be damaged and un salvageable?

Watched two episodes last night. Great show, lot better than I was expecting.

Jason you and your fisheries mates are solid gold. HTF you put up with those idiots. Your not paid enough and given how long it took the coppers to turn up to that ramp dispute at hashville I don't think your backed up enough either. Hope this raises some awareness and helps fisheries?

Thanks for doing what you do.

Thanks achjimmy, unfortunately as a general rule I personally find the coppers pretty hopeless when it comes to providing assistance. They are busy I guess with more pressing issues, but we have certainly learned not to rely on them. It's different in the country as we have a rapport with the local coppers and work much more closely with them as well as knowing each other personally. My father was a copper for thirty years so I understand their issues.

I was a bit worried that the show was portraying the wrong message actually, I thought the abusive scenes dragged on for too long and could have come to a more speedy conclusion (cutting room edit). Unfortunately dealing with certain groups can be very interesting.

Thanks for the positive comments, all of the guys and galls are passionate about what they do.

The show will restart next week or the week after. They have re scheduled it to run with hwy patrol for a better fit.

I haven't seen any of the episodes to come so am looking forward to waiting the rest also.
