G'day all,
We picked up a 240v Water Cooler for the house, bought it brand new of some fella we found on Gumtree (here in Cairns). Got it home and it's got either a Euro or Asian style plug on the water cooler, also the frikken thing leaks...... Old mate we bought it off has gone away for the weekend, however when he returns next week I want to get my $$ back, give him back his water cooler.
Main reason we bought it off him was to support a small local business, though at present this looks like a poor call on this occasion.
I want to first know from someone what the rules are with selling goods in Aus that don't have one of our style 240v plugs on them?
Regards,
Barrabart.

From Office of Fair Trading QLD website

Be cautious when buying electrical items or children's toys as they may not meet Australian safety standards. Electrical items should have a 240 volt plug wired to the product. Do not buy goods requiring an adaptor plug as this is illegal. Contact the Electrical Safety Office for more information.

Nah mate, the Mrs picked it up from the seller on Friday while she was out running around, paid cash. Didn't realise it had the wrong plug till Fri evening when we were unpacking it. I'm thinking the dealer has bought in a bunch of these things and is just flogging them off around the place, the coolers are called Bio Family, and the only website I can find for the coolers is in Iran........ hehe
