Title: Evakool RV series portable fridge/freezer
Post by: sienna on November 16, 2013, 11:48:25 AM
Hi All,
I have been doing a lot of reading and searching but haven't found a lot of info yet.  Just bits and pieces.  I am interested in the evakool RV series
http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Evakool-RV-Fridge-Freezer-35L.aspx?pid=321826&menuFrom=571607#Cross (http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Evakool-RV-Fridge-Freezer-35L.aspx?pid=321826&menuFrom=571607#Cross)

I can get one from evakool directly as a factory second for a reduced price.  (I have a tiny budget).
I've looked at them in store and they look solid enough  to me, the newly initiated in fridge/freezers.  My main concern is that they haven't been on the market for very long, about a year, so there's not a lot of info on their reliability.  Reading here, at least evakool's after sales service is pretty good so that makes me feel  better.

My main use for it would be to use it as a freezer to complement my bar fridge.  I have seen the dual compartment ones but most of them have the small section which only can get to fridge temps so that is wasted space for me.  So I reckon a single compartment is the way to go.  That rules out most of the cheaper generic ones on ebay.

Anyone out there with one?  I believe one or two of you here own one.
Any comments, thoughts are welcome.

I looked at those fridges and I though they were a 'bit tinny'. In the end I bought one of these instead; http://www.techniice.com/car-fridges-1/30l-car-fridge-1.html (http://www.techniice.com/car-fridges-1/30l-car-fridge-1.html)
So far It has performed very well.
Regards

I have the 60 ltr model and even though only used the once so far I have no complaints. I ran mine on two degrees for four days and didn't use all the battery (120a) so it's pretty good on power too. I had it running for a few days in the garage and pre cooled the tinnies and it purred away lovely.

For me it fits my purpose of four or five trips away each year and if I need a second fridge then I guess it will do that too

Thanks for your feedback so far.
Brutus,
Do you find it to be quiet?  We'll be sleeping close to it so don't wish to keep everyone awake.
