Title: Newbie - Port Stephens
Post by: Beatle on October 10, 2013, 08:21:56 AM
Hi all,

Just joined the forum.  I'm currently looking to purchase a camper trailer.  Not into heavy/severe use (not doing Big Red or The Cape) so concentrating on the budget end of the market.  Unless of course a good used all Aussie camper comes my way.

I'm relatively handy, have a shed full of tools including a mig welder and love to tinker.

Family makeup is me, wife and two girls 8 and 12yo.  Living in Medowie. Drive a '97 80 series Landcruiser manual.  She's a petrol engine, not on gas (yet) so I tend not to stray too far from a bowser......... ;D

Started decades ago with a Jayco Finch and used it regularly.   Graduated to a bogie-axle van for a short while.  Now I'm back into a big tent (Coleman Montana 12) but looking to get some wheels back under the bed.

Current interest is to the Skamper Kamper Ranger model, or I see Leisure Matters has a special on their trooper and have a shipment coming in with a taller tent (I assume similar to the vertical sided Skamper).   Still trying to work out if I should go the 9' or 12' tent.   I'm tending toward the 9' for ease of erection (can I say that....) with the addition of a kids room for extended stays.

Cheers

Welcome Beatle,

You have stumbled across the friendliest place on the web.

I'm tending toward the 9' for ease of erection (can I say that....)

You will get along just fine around here  :D

Good luck with your camper search, remember to visit the classified section on the forum as there are some great CT's there.

Welcome to the forum.  We had a Coleman Montana 12 which was great tent but are a lot happier with our CT.  Good luck with your search.

Happy camping

Welcome Beatle,

Enjoy your search for the right CT for you and the Family.
When you find the CT you will enjoy the ease a camper will give you with set up and pack up.

Just to close out, I picked up a 1980 Jayco Swan today.  Not really a CT, but not a tent  ;D
