Title: Whats it worth? Waeco cf-50??
Post by: evolution on September 09, 2013, 05:03:48 PM
Hey guys and gals,

I have been asked by a friend of mine to sell a Waeco coolfreeze CF-50 for him.
I have just ordered a new lid for it and it works great, freezes and cools fine.
It has marks on the outside, just general wear and tear really.

Only thing is I have no idea what is a fair price to ask for it. It doesn't have an insulator cover, although I can order one through work for about $100 if it would make a dramatic difference to the price??

Cheers in advance for the advice guys and gals

If it wasn't a 50 i would have grabbed it off you we need a 35 just enough for small day trips, taking the big 80l away for day trips is just too much.

New they selling for 580 i think so anything around 250-400 would be a good start?

I had a look on ebay, only one used one for $700??? seems a bit ritch.
Yeah I wasn't even thinking asking a grand..
Do you think it would be worth while getting the cover? Or just leave it for the new owner?

Cheers

hmm wonder which one i was looking at sure it was a CF-50 ill go in and have a look tomorrow need to get some stuff anyway.

Covers seem to sell better, when in rays last week two young blokes spent 200 more on a fridge each just because the cheaper one didnt have the cover with it.

You'd be surprised what some people think they are worth used... you can get them for that price new most times.

Yeah not really come to think about it lol. Might just ask for $550.
I don't think I will worry about the cover, even if I got it for him I would only (hopefully) cover the extra hundred anyway.

Thanks guys. Ill wait till the new lid is in and then give it a scrub and tidy and take some photos and advertise it.

Hi Evo, I paid $450 for a second hand one about 12 months ago. It was missing the basket inside that cost me about $30 or so.
It did come with a cover.
The guy I bought it from had two for sale and a mate bought the other for the same price. He may have been asking $500 each to start with but dropped as we were taking both off his hands at once.

I sold mine on Ebay about 18 months ago and it was roughly six years old. At a no reserve auction it went for about $700 with a cover.

Wow!  Mine is about 6 as well.  Paid $750 for it so if I came close to $700, or even $600 2nd hand I'd be stoked.
Trouble is if I upgraded I'd have to upgrade my slide as well (old CF50s were narrow) ... there's another $300+.  Not to mention redo my fridge 'box' in the 4wd...
