Helpful suggestions wanted.
Have a 3 x D cell Maglite (filament globe)which has not been used for a while and must have been left turned on.
When I went to put new batteries in it the end battery just slit out like it should, the next is stubbornly refusing to be shook, thumped, jarred, cursed out.
Any suggestions on how to extract battery # 2 and 3?

Unscrew the other end and push out the batteries.

Hi had similar issue with small maglite and the batteries had swelled and leaked,
in the end threw it out a brought a new one.

Tried that. The light lens assembly unscrews to reveal the lamp holder which in turn is held in place deep down by a 'C' clip, which I can not get to, yet a loan snap out. The switch assembly is also somehow involved behind the plate the 'C' clip holds in place.
So no opportunity to push them out from the top.
Thought of manufacturing some sort of long drill to make a hole in the base of the battery that I may then tap a screw into, but do not know if this would work.
Anybody tried?

I had that problem too. I filled it with wd40 and left it over night then belted the Shite out of it.
Could try punching a flat head screwdriver into the back of the battery and try twist it:-\

Hi,
Patience Grasshopper patience.
Try a dowel rod or similar and a good quality A&B pack adhesive like araldite.
Mix it and put it on the end of the rod and apply it to the end of the battery.
(you can roughen up the end of the battery with a sharp implement if you want)
Leave the rod glued in position securely for 3 days or so, put the dowel in a vice and get ready to pull the maglite off the battery, wearing gloves.
Why?
Because before pulling, pour boiling water over the maglite to expand the aluminium and it will be hot. Hotter than the battery temporarily, and it should slide off.

I just got a new led one that came with 4 d cell batteries. I paid 35 delivered.

Just get a long screw or a tecscrew and a pair of pliers should do the trick, no need to wait for epoxy to cure......

Happened to me years ago. Here is the solution. Take bottom battery cover off. Hold upright and pout in water. Tip out water and shake down bicarbonate of soda powder around edges of batteries and shake until powder works its way down the torch. Once this is done pour in some white vinegar and leave sit for about 5 mins. Empty vinegar out and gently tap the torch to try and remove batteries. Sometimes only one battery will come out so you may have to repeat the process.
After you have remover the batteries ensure you flush the torch cavity with fresh water to remove all vinegar and bi carb soda. After it is dry you can spray a little vegetable oil down the cavity.

Get a coarse wood screw about 50mm long and screw it into the bottom of the battery. You may need to drill a small pilot hole first. Once it grips try pulling/turning on it simultaneously and it should come out.
