Part of the deal with my Mate Camping at Bathurst with me this year, was he would get to sleep on the bed in my Camper and I get stuck on Single Stretcher bed. 6 nights will do me in, but considering he had a fractured pelvis a few years ago that's still a bit dodgey, it's only fair also.
Just wondering if anyone has put a mattress on top of a stretcher bed for extra comfort? I was thinking just 3 or 4 of the foam mats (5mm thick) might do. A simple thing it is, but as we all know, 6 nights Camping with a crap night's sleep because of a bed is aweful.

We use a quality self inflating mattress for our oldest daughter on her bunk. Makes it much better, warmer etc.

x2 for the self inflating mattress, also for our eldest daughter. I think its a Denali. She finds it very comfortable.

We put Kathmandu self inflating mattresses on the kids stretcher beds when we know it is going to be cold overnight

Buy yourself a good single memory foam mattress and cut it to the size of cot.

Another vote for a self inflating mattress on top of the stretcher. Both our teenagers find them comfortable.

We use a 50mm foam mattress from clark rubber on top of the stretchers which folds at 3 set points (making a square shape when folded) which gives a good night’s sleep.

Another one for a self inflating mattress. We use two singles on our double stretcher. Works great!

Another vote for the self inflating mattress. Doesn't need to be very thick either, it is the 2nd most comfortable way to sleep (just behind the innerspring matress in the camper).
Other choice is a downmat or synmat, packs up smaller, has the same or better insulation value but you have to inflate it.

Your mate gets the bed???
If he really wants to go, he gets the stretcher at best..
or leave him at home, you wont miss him.

Hahahaha........that was my first thought. But given he's got a dodgey pelvis and my question here, thought I'd be nice.
Well self inflating mattress sounds like the go.
Cheers All.

Yep, head down to the Foam Rubber shop, check out what Beachman is referring to, also check out all the high density foam matting they have on offer, get something 2" thick and cut to size.......
Do you own a swag? If not maybe look at this as an option, buy a half decent swag, and put up with the matress that's in it, or put a "proper" high density matress in the swag...... either way, a swag on a stretcher would have to be pretty comfy, and open up a few more options too....

Another vote the self inflating mat, I use a Thermarest on my stretcher, warm and comfy and packs up small

I've slept on those self inflating mattresses on a wooden floor and was surprised, will work a treat in a stretcher.
