I would be interested in them, however we have a 15" dvd system for the kids right where the light is.

Unsure if one would fit up in my roof space.

Btw seen you driving yesterday :D

Could possibly make a digital template if you want evo shouldnt be too hard then to share it around.

Still would need the cardboard template to make correct measurements.

Ok guys at Nick's suggestion I have been looking into making a digital version as well. Therefore I can just email them out. The bit Im having trouble with is getting them to come up to the right scale so you can print them on standard a4...

The GU has three mounting points. This is where I will need some input from those who are interested.
The first mounting point is where the mirror sits and just needs a bit of steel bent into an L shape with some holes drilled into it. very easy. (not changeable)
The other two are as follows.
There is one under the main cabin light, and has a really beefy bracket under the roof liner. This is by far the easiest to locate and very strong. The down side is it makes it very long.
This one is by far the easiest to use though

The other is about 20-30cm closer to the windscreen. It is a crossrib that has two screw holes already in place. It was easy enough in mine as I already had the roof lining cut to fit a rear screen in there. This is the location that The outback consoles use.

I am happy to do either. On the last one I made, similar to dannys I had a cutout base to mount the roof screen into the console.

Hey Evo silly question

Brett

I don't have a template nor a console for an 80 series. I am happy to make one from scratch If I can get a hold of one though?

I'd be interested in a template as well.

Mirror to main cabin light would be ideal, as no need to cut the roof lining.

OK dokies, easy enough to do. I should have the final template ready by Thursday. Then hopefully I can finalise the digital template.

Sounds good, just don't forget that printers don't print to the edge, my own mistake on my first scale print.

So nick_4x4 is getting a little more than a template haha

this is what I got done today.
(http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t411/evolution1985/IMG_20130902_164223_934_zps1f02e51a.jpg) (http://s1058.photobucket.com/user/evolution1985/media/IMG_20130902_164223_934_zps1f02e51a.jpg.html)

And nearly finished. Just got to make up the bracket for the front mirror mount, carpet inside the storage pocket once the glue dries and make the map net for underneath.

The front light unit looks very nice, as does the whole console.  :cup: :cup:

Make sure the light unit has a very low profile. I have a Dept Of The Interior console with the Nissan glasses holder in that position. Anything hanging below the console would block the view in the mirror.

Just sayin'......

The front light is actually an oem part. BUT not a nissan, AND definitely not a toyota haha.
its actually out of a Great wall X200

Go to the last photo on the right

The trick to the carpet is a really good contact adhesive, and plenty of patience. Pull it tight and let the glue dry before you move on to the next part.
Plus plenty of practice helps  :cup:

@evo  Kids just got home and missus told them to check out the post, took them a while but they soon worked out that's their DVD screen, youngest even went and said no ours is in the car lol not spotted the great big hole in the roof for a week..

So the kids give a big thumbs up for the work saying that i couldn't do anything even close to looking that good.

If it helps I have the template for my GU console still, the bit in the middle can be easily modified to suit your needs. If anyone in Melbourne needs a bare timber carcase made up I am sure i can work something out.
