I was down at a Caravan Park at Mission Beach today and noticed some good, strange and unusual names people have called their vans. ;D
Does anyone have a nickname for their Camper or tow vehicle?
-
Previous Prado - Vera
Current D Max - Zoe
Goldstream Storm - Serenity
If you have ever seen firefly you will get it
-
The cruiser is Belle. The CT is Matilda II.
-
Landcruiser - George
Kamper - Mildred
-
We did have some people come through here with Tortoise on their camper, I enquired, their response.."We travel as and when we want, and this is our home".
An appropriate name.
Tjupurula
-
i see plenty named "we crossed the nullarbor "
-
Avinash, also known as Avi -- the Jeep. It means indestructible.
Winston, also known as Winnie -- the Poo trol.
Charles -- the Sturt (camper).
-
We have a black Jeep called BJ.
We have a Koala Camper called The Bear.
Together, it's BJ and The Bear.
-
Great topic!
Tug, Miss Piggy (ex NSW police vehicle).
CT, Piglet.
;D
-
I want to call the swan "Quickest Route" >:D
But as always the missus wont let me!!!!
-
Our camper is called Toad.
Because I am a Qld'er, it is always 'towed' and Toad is the name of a back engine in Thomas and Friends (yes, I have two small children).
-
I also wanted to call our Jayco Swift "Trailer Swift", but wife wouldn't have a bar of it.
-
A good friends father owned a Swagman motorhome, she gave him some personalised number plates for it that read "JOLLY" ... but she didn't stop there, getting him some more plates for the car towed behind, they read "ONCE A"
Once a ... Jolly ...
-
Navara is Nav ( not very original)
Aussie Swag is called Bouncing Betty because anything over 80kph and she bounces like a Bi*#%
Bill
-
The Triton is called lightning. The cub spacematic is Cee Tee & the cartopper is called Neddy. My previous tug was called Trigger
Speedhump
-
Our Camper is called 'Matilda'
Volksing Matilda.
We Love our Matilda !!! Wife would buy personalised number plate with MATILDA, except personalised number plates are the sign of too much money and nothing else to spend it on.
ok, ok, I'll accept 'Matilda' as a viable number plate option...
-
Camper is called KT (Katie) - it's a pun on CT......................cough cough
Patrol used to be called Bruce. But now I hate it it's called the pootroll
-
tow vehicle = Nisota
-
If my username wasn't Hefty, it would have been Archive coz my mates tell me I remember too many useless bits of information.
I've started referring to the CT as "The Archive" coz goodness knows I store too much useless stuff in there!!
Cheers!
Jono.

Our camper is called the "caboose".
Named by our 2 kids who are Thomas tragic's, plus the caboose was "A railroad car with accommodations for the train crew, typically attached to the end of the train" - appropriate really.
-
There was a F350 5th wheeler setup there with a massive Wildcat Van (how do they find parking spots for those rigs?) and the Truck was called "Taj" and the Van was "Mahal" ;D
Very appropriate ;D
-
The tug is 'The 80' Nothing special there about the name :-[
The camper is 'Touche' As in Touche the Turtle.
The kids gave the camper it's name when we first got it in 09.

The Defender is 'Monty' - being British and because we like Monty Python. It has a little MP Black Knight mascot strapped to the snorkel as well...and just to be authentic, he's got a few flesh wounds ;)
The RRS is 'Black Betty' - because the kids started naming our vehicles etc... after Flintstone characters, and we had already had a Wilma wagon, Fred trailer, Barney camper, and Pebbles billycart.
The current camper is 'Bamm Bamm'...that's also the sound it makes when it follows us around on our misadventures ;D
-
I don't name mine... it's a little silly, I reckon (but don't tell them that - they will get offended!) ;D
-
When the cruiser is going well, it's 'the good girl', when it is playing up, it's 'the bitch'.
-

That's a bit harsh ... we have names for our vehicles ... My Car, Your Car and The Camper.
The kayak even gets a guernsey ... The Kayak, although sometimes it gets abbreviated to Yak.
Surfboards are a whole different kettle of fish ... they get named scientifically through length and fin configuration ...ie: The 5'11" quad or the 6-0 tri.
-
Patrol, silver in colour, = old silver
CT=blue coloured Off Road Adventure =Bluey
Swanny
-
My Nissan GQ wagon is called " The Old Girl"
Camp trailer is called " Tracky" as it is a Trackabout

The names depend on what moods they are all in!

We call the Burgundy Patrol "Grange" because when we got it a friend commented on the colour saying it looked good enough to drink..... we don't have a name for the blue challenge c/t as yet but are open to suggestions..... The porta potti is named "Portia" as taking Portia for a walk sounds much better than going to empty the toilet (or other variations)..
Cheers,
-
When the cruiser is going well, it's 'the good girl', when it is playing up, it's 'the bitch'.
GOLD!!!

Saw a good one today on a Hi Lux towing a Jayco.

My car = My Car
His car = The Ute
Aussie Swag CT is a Rover = Rover ... it follows us everywhere we tow it.
Kit_e
-
All our cars have been named by the kids:
Our kids thought the 08 Falcon is big and seeing it's Red = "The Wiggle Car"
We picked up our 98 Patrol a few days after I introduced the kids to Puff The Magic Dragon whilst camping = "Puff"
Used to have a 94 Landrover Discovery, was affectionately known as "Sir Axle Rod" (Cars 2 movie) by the kids. I called it a piece of Shit.
The CT is just simply "The Camper".
-
Camper called Ernie for Trackabout Extenda and tow tug is Charlie "Bert" Challenger.
-
Humm, I'll have to get my kids onto this naming caper.
We have:
Mummy's car
Daddy's BIG car
The CT and my Work trailer which both get called trailer, which even confuses me.
I have always referred to each Landcruiser I owned as TOJO, but wife wont except that, she is correct I guess, as even he was beaten in the end, unlike my Troopy.
-
Dont have a nickname yet, but when i was searching for a vehicle to buy i was under instructions to buy a car that was gold. the reason... so that combined with our sussie jays crusher camper, we could be called the golden gaytime crusher!
I ended up choosing a blue car much to her dismay.
-
Dont have a name for the CT....
But the daughter named the tug 'Thomas' after the tank engine!!
She will come up with a name for the CT sooner or later!!
-
contemplating calling the prado tug
and the jayco er
