We have a six yr old female border collie called Katie. She has an acre to run around but most days is in a smaller yard otherwise she exhausts herself.
Yesterday we were gardening and Kate was running as usual as we gardened. She is the quickest BC I have ever seen.
I walked over to the garden shed and she let out a blood curdling yelp.
Here she is after surgery;
She had impaled her paw on this;
If u can see the white stuff that is cream that I put on the Tyne to lubricate it. Her paw was all the way up he Tyne and jammed against the end.
So we wrapped her in a towel and then it took all my strength to pull it out of her.
Off to the vets and on the way she still wanted to chase the trucks she saw.
All fine after surgery and home recovering.
So lucky. I was the last one to use the fork laid it tynes down but I think she may have flipped it as she ran over it. Felt like crap.
Tough as nails.

Ouch I am not going to complain about my conjunctivitis then.
Tough little dog, hope she gets better quick!

Yeah they are special. The Border Collie is my favorite dog, we had three all together. 8) Highly intelligent and great around kids. ;)
When I was building our house, I was up on the roof putting the T&G ceiling on and all of a sudden, I get a nudge on the arm. I look to see our female had climbed up the ladder and standing there, as if to say, hey hooman, give me a pat. :cup:
I miss my Border Collies, give her a big hug mate, they are a special breed. :cup:

I have 5 Blue Heelers, they are all working dogs, and frequently go out with my sons when mustering and the like. The oldest male dog, Dylan, has been kicked on numerous occasions, but always gets back up and back into the job.
As territorial dogs, they are incredible dogs. Many times I have been in Halls Creek, have left my keys in the car, unlocked, and for some reason it has never been pinched. The dogs have never been tied in the back of the tray either, good security.

Yep the working breeds are tough dogs. After a few red cattles I love the breed, the loyalty, the toughness is just incredible.

Forking dogs! Good to see the dog will mend. Its never good seeing your best mate get hurt.
My brother has a BC also. He was walking it through the netball courts in Windsor. Being a good dog, he decided to let it off the lead. The dog ran around for a while, then stopped to sniff around. When my brother called the dog back, the dog started running then stopped, pickup something then made his way back to my brother. When the dog got back he dropped what he picked up at my brother feet, at which point my brother couldn't get the dog to a tap to wash his mouth out quick enough.
The dog had found a 15" long dildo.

That will be badly treated by Jeepers Creepers no doubt. One of my dogs, when it was a pup, always chewed my jocks, but not when I had them on fortunately. Got him out of t he habit by putting chilli in an old pair, he stopped very quickly.

I was worried about Jeepers making some comment, I did not think you would get the comment in. Thankyou for that unpleasant thought.

Poor Girl. Wishing Katie a quick recovery Dazzler.
-
Thanks all for the wishes. She is amazing. Ready to go again and we have to keep her on her leash on her bed in the lounge so she doesnt keep walking on it.
Dont know how they do it. If it were me and I had a fork through me foot i would be expecting the carry on nurses for a month!

Good to hear she's better Dazzler.

I used to work with a lebo guy in Sydney who carried one beside his seat in the car..... After being charged for having a baseball bat there ( they classed it as dangerous weapon) he started carry the dildo and said when ya belt the Shit out of someone with a fluro purple dildo .... they don't tell no one ... and cant be charged for carrying a sex toy.... but the worrying thing was it had a bite mark out of it ....lol

O so I'm not the only one at the moment with a sore and sorry border colie, Here is my biggest girl Febe, after de-gloving here toe nail. She got off lucky as there was a chance thay would have to remove the entire toe.
She is still dopy after grinding the toe nail back and stoping it from bleeding.

Yikes. Glad to hear she's OK in the end Dazzler. You did good to get her to the vet - I think I would have taken one look at her and the fork, and passed out myself.
Our BC (now almost 10yr old) sliced his back foot clean in half one morning in Bris on some broken glass during our walk. I carried him back home, but there was a bird on his patio that he needed to evict while I was hunting for bandages. The end result was a happy dog, but a patio that looked like a scene from any of the SAW movies. They stitched him back together, and his paw has been fine ever since. He did buy himself 4 weeks locked in the garage doped up on sedatives while it healed though.
Give Katie a big pat from me, and tell her she's a Good Dog. Fingers crossed she heals quickly.
Cheers,
Matt
