Title: Jayco bed base reinforcement
Post by: Jasman on July 05, 2013, 12:17:29 AM
Hi, I know i'm a gumby but I'm positive I've seen photos of people reinforcing the point where the support posts meet the bed bases on Jayco but I have spent the last couple of hours searching and can't find the photos.

Can anyone remember where these posts and pictures were?

Thanks in advance.

havent got a pic atm but i cut a peice of 50mm pvc pipe and ran it vertically up from the cross bar on our jayco between the chassis rails straight up to the bed base.

Can I ask why? Are you doing it to prevent problems? Or to fix them?

Hi Jasman,

I placed 125 X 125mm S/Steel plates under the bed base where the support poles hook in.

I did this after the first fews years of use had worn away the first couple of layers of the ply base.

I thought I had posted some pictures of these years ago on the forum, but can't ind them now.  If you want, I can take some more.

Hey Guys, thanks fro the responses.  I'm picking up our new to us Hawk (second hand) next week and just running through all the mods I want to do that I've read about in here.

MarkGU:  Are you saying you've added an additional support pole?  Was the bed bowing or something?

Signature035:  How thick was the plate?  Did you just secure it with the existing fittings? I always like pictures, but don't make a special trip!

i just looked at it as there is a lengthy gap between the support poles and an additional support pole would stop the bed base sagging before it started that's all. will post a pic for you tomorrow mate, cheers.

Shouldn't wear if you use your shoulder to lift and lower the bed base when fitting and removing the bed stays. As for the extra support try Weightwatchers  :-X
