Title: I Love Telstra - NOT
Post by: Bunyip on June 26, 2013, 11:24:35 PM
Place an order for phone and internet in the new house on the 13th June to be connected on the 28th June. I thought I was cutting it close but the Telstra guy seemed to think this was heaps of notice.

Just checked with them this evening as I had heard nothing back, they have no record of my contacting them on the 13th, let alone requesting a new service! So the first week will be a single 3g iPad sharing out a network. Talk about slower than a wet week  >:(

On the bright side when the ADSL does finally get connected I will think it is lightening fast, even though I am 3.5Km from the exchange. So used to being one of the few connected to my cable segment that I get very good speed at the moment.

Grrrrrr, time to go to bed.

I was recently told that our wireless internet was not functioning due to road works.

110% for ingenuity.  Give that guy a medal.

I ditched them years ago when they tried to rip me off with a little extra on the bill. They then proceeded to call me up to 5 times a week wanting to me to reconsider, I told them the only thing I would consider is lodging a complaint against them for harassment.

Our phone wire was tied to the barbed wire on our front fence from the time we moved in. They said they would bury it but it could take between 3 months and 3 years. After 5 years and being sick of fault after fault we cancelled the home phone and went with a radio broadband. Because we are "rural" we get a reasonable monthly rate. To their credit they did refund us a lot of money, but I won't waste my time trying to get the land line put back on.

bunyip, if you dont mind telling me, what part of Orange is the property?

I'm on Internode and can only go as good as ADSL+1 where I am. I have had suspicions that I could do better and (against my better judgement) have even considered a switch to Hel$tra.

I had heaps of problems with Optus. To the point the refunded me several months bills.

I changed to telstra. I get better reception everywhere I go. Have had no problems with my mobile.

They did dick me a round with the Internet connection I'm my current place but everything was sorted in an almost reasonable time frame.

Horses for courses. More ppl Are happy to complain about bad servers than rave about good.

If you want mobile coverage there really is only Telstra
Everyone else pales in comparison once you leave the suburbs

We are in Blechington (sp?) about two minutes drive from the North Orange shops. Telstra tell me I will get ADSL 2 speeds but I don't believe them, we are over 3.5km from the exchange.

Yep and they know how to charge for it as well!

We just took a 2 yr contract with Vodafone before we decided to move, so far it all seems to be going well on the reception front.

I am happy with telstra and happy to own a blackberry z10. Works where iPhones dont..

Also works where other networks can only dream of a signal

Telstra every day for me

Vodafone is pretty non existent in WA. Competition is good, but its scarce over here.

I hate telstra, but anywhere just outside of town and forget trying to get a signal on any network.

Aldi Mobile works well, its on the Telstra network and half the price @ $35 unlimited calls & Text and 5gb data.

Only kicker is you dont get their LTE 4G only 3G

I spent 6 yrs on Optus and their coverage sucks big time at twice the price! Go figure...

Thats a good deal. Better than my current set up.

I'd be happy with 3G, its got to be faster than what we currently have, ....which is slower than my mom trying to figure out how to use the VCR

Sp I spoke with the big T yesterday regarding disconnecting my old address. Whilst there the operator checked out the new address order and all seemed OK.
A few minutes after that call the operator rang me back and told me there was indeed work scheduled for today, but that was just cabling work not connection work and my connection was not due to be done until the 10th July.
As I had already told the operator whilst chatting in the original call that I have started an online Uni course she offered to credit my account the cost of a Telstra WiFi device so that I can get on with my Uni work in the mean time.

Typical Telstra not telling you everything you need to know, but cudos to them for coming up with a solution before contacting me and solving my major concern about the delay in connection.

Apparently I went through 5Gb in 24 hours on a 3G connection. Possible yes, likely not really. Not as if I was downloading a heap of vids or anything.

Telstra gave me a bonus 5GB but I have been ultra careful with that which I why I have not been around.

Hopefully come Wednesday I will have internet, however apparently they tell me the ADSL can takeup to four days from phone connection!
