Title: Who's a cheat?
Post by: TrevJel on June 24, 2013, 09:31:21 PM
Who is the cheat? is it me for marking my tyres to see if they were rotated with the 10k service, or is it the dealership for telling me along with all the other stuff that the wheels have been balanced and rotated but they have not.

Did they need rotating?

Did you ask for them to be rotated or was it just specified under the service interval.

If they don't need it cause the tread is wearing evenly then it's a waste of time. Also, if they were balanced on vehicle then if you rotate you can end up with them out of balance.

What did they say when you raised it and when u asked did the service person check with the mechanic?

Most importantly were you charged for a service not performed? If so go back ask for the manager and explain what has happened. I've had issues similar in the past and have been well and truly compensated when I pointed out the deception.  And that is what it is. Be polite at first, but know your rights and if in doubt drop the consumer protection line. Always works for me.  And if you haven't been charged also ask for an explanation.  Like the others have said maybe they deemed it unnecessary.

Don't know the mechanic setup at all, but if it was the case of the boss doesn't know and I couldn't be bothered I'm sure they would like to know. Could be an apprentice that doesn't know any better. Could be a simple oversight.
The fact that you marked the tyres leads me to think there has been issues in the past though.

Its not uncommon to be charged for Shit not done... always hear people marking fuel/air filters, adjustment bolts with white marker and nothing has been touched.

Bloke on this board bought my GQ, put it in for a Pre Trip inspection, had it done, then had a few mechanical issues, put car offroad for few weeks, got going again, then got no more than 20klms from the place, and the brake pads were that worn they fell out.. rooted discs, and more... shop told him to intercourse off.

3 weeks ago I had a major service done on the Kluger. I thought I would get it done a bit early as we were selling it. Nothing said at all when i picked the car up. All good I think....
As rego was due the following week i needed to get an inspection, this was the first one for the car and I forgot it needed one otherwise I would have got it done at Toyota. Went to Kmart who knocked it back due to the brakes, when he showed me the front were almost down to metal. Reckons they would not have lasted another 5000k and the rears wouldn't have made it to next 10,000k service. Makes you wonder. I have always made sure  the car is serviced on time, as the car was on a lease it was easy as it was all paid for...

Might find a good mechanic who owns the business...... and name is on the door...
I wanted to take the car back to Toyota but didn't get the chance as we sold it couple of days later.
