Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone that has a Jayco camper has had them upgrade the payload, have asked the dealer but cant get an answer out of him something about the factory just getting back into production(load of crap if you ask me).
I know they will do it for the Expandas but not sure about the campers.
Cheers Dice

There is no reason why they cant because its only an undercarriage thing and under there they are almost all the same, I had it done to the Goldstream which is much cheaper when ordering new but its always possible.

I am asking my dealer the same question. One of the reasons i got the water tank and battery at the factory was to get the payload upgrade. No answer yet.

they actually have a phone number to. its old school but it works.
-
They would not do it for my Swift. >:(
-
Did they give you a reason?
I figure with my swan. It has a 2 tonne axle as standard, so I think there is more room to upgrade the payload.

Tried that this afternoon got a not sure will get someone to give you a call,so we will see if it actually does work.

They definitely do it. There is a few on here that have had it upped. Slack on their behalf if they haven't got back to you but dont let it slip, keep on their back

They did. But was a lot of guff. In the end I just gave up and said max up the payload as much as you can.
When it comes to the physical build they are not keen on straying from the template. The add ons are no problem but ask for anything customised and the answer is no.

I am still working with my dealer. Initially got told that 300 is the standard but he is now going back to the "Planner" at Jayco to work out if I can get an upgrade to my payload. I hope so, if only to take account of the second water tank and battery. 100kgs in those two items alone.
I did a search and came across this:
Hi Slydog, I have a swan ob on order and went through this with the dealer as the standard payload for all campers is 300kg. I have twin water tanks(among other options) getting fitted and pointed out to them than I can only load 140kg in with the tanks full. They gave me the 2000kg straight axle and have requested a payload upgrade to 375kg from jayco. Jayco have told the dealer they can upgrade the payload on most campers but depends on the weight of the van once it is built. If you get the 16in wheel option it reduces the braking capacity and limits the ATM to a lower value than the 15in wheels, although they wouldn't give me the exact details on this. The dealer also let slip that jayco have to fit the 2000kg on campers with twin water/gas tanks and don't charge the dealer extra for it, so don't pay extra you get it for free. Just make sure it is in writing on the order confirmation when you sign it.
Good luck and Happy camping Fryzy
Clearly they do payload upgrades on campers, but it appears trickier than it should be to organise the upgrade.

Got conformation today of payload upgrade to 350kg took a bit of doing, a lot harder than it should have been.
Still have not heard from Jayco themselves after being told that someone would be in touch, the dealer gave me conformation today.

I have the Swan 2T axle and got it upgraded to 400kg. It took a few calls direct to Jayco as the salesman wasn't very helpful.
Jayco told me that all Swan OB now come with a 2T axle as standard if you order the 2nd water tank. The limiting factor though was braking capacity which is why they cannot increase the ATM up to 2T.
-
Which year swan do you have?
-
2011 - i can look at my compliance plate when i get home if you want the actual ATM.
-
When I got my 2011 Swan OB, because I had the second water tank and HWS it was upgraded to 2000KG. This is at no cost. It was explained to me that they do this as part of the 2nd water tank / HWS package
-
Hi Flanders ,
It's only the axle that is rated to 2000 kg the payload is still the same, the 2ton axle is now standard.I ended up getting an increase to 350kg it's not much but it should be enough.

Hi Flanders,
I'm having this discussion with my dealer at the moment. Is there any chance you could pm me a picture of your plate. Mine is equipped with virtually every option, yet total axle mass is only 1720kg and not 2000kg. I definitely have the 2ton axle etc etc, but there is quite a lot wrong with my vin / compliance plate, so it would be nice to see yours as a comparison.

Hi Dice I got a payload upgrade to 375kg on my 2012 swan outback. Mine also had the 2 ton straight axle fitted free due to twin water and gas tanks being fitted. How much they upgrade the payload depends on what the weight of the finished camper is. I was told the brakes are the limiting factor on how much they give you.

No worries Dave, I will grab a photo of what I have tonight and post it

Any luck with the photo of the compliance plate? Apparently an upgrade may be possible, but as to how much and if and when,....... the wait is on. It seems like a very grey area as each camper is so different depending on specs and no one seems to know what's going on. Crazy really. Like I said I would love a photo of your plate to help me out no matter what it's got on it
Regards Dave

Sorry Dave, can someone tell me where the plate is? I've had a look but no luck?

Hi Dice, it's been a few weeks but how did the dealer achive the GVM 'upgrade' on your caravan after his 'confirmation'?
Reason I ask, just like Holden Commodores and Toyota Landcruisers, each trailer model/design has its specs recorded with The Gummint and on its complaince plate and - as I understand it - any deviation from these specs (just like any other vehicle) needs re-certification after analysis of the vehicle by a Recognised Engineer...?
-
Hi Flanders if it's anything like my Swan then it will be in the front boot on the right hand side two thirds of the way up the back wall for the boot on the middle.
Cheers Dave
-
Hi got a pic of mine if it helps

Thanks for the photo my phone was only showing some of the photo, but I've sorted it now thankyou very much.
