Just thought id share an experience with fellow swaggers,i run Cooper ST 285/75/16 tyres on my GU patrol as i do on my camper and the last two campers and the last two sets on my patrol, needles to say i am very happy with them they have done some harsh country. So my wife and children are coming home from Melbourne two days ago and i get a message on my phone that she has had a major blow out ,torn off the mudflap, bent the GU steel rim,and other damage,so i phone my local cooper dealer who i have been a loyal customer for tyres ,ARB ,and every thing i have on or in my 4WD for the past 15-18years,he is sympathetic to my problem, because lets face it it could have been a bloody disaster.I get the rim and tyre to him he has a look ,investigates it and tells me the tyre is 8 years old(THEY SAY ONLY 5 YEARS WARRENTY) but its brand new has been on the back of my bus for a while, any way he phones cooper tyres, they said they will give me a new tyre and pay for damages so i am writing to say i am so pleased with cooper tyres ,my dealer told me there are other brands that would not want to know about the problem,so for service and after sales service they get my vote .I just wanted to get it out there cause we hear so many bad stories about the bigger companies its nice to know they still care about customers.BOODY WELL DONE I SAY :cup:

Good result, but other tyres wouldn't have blown out in the first place..ducks for cover :)
-
Any clues as to why the tyre blew?
Eight year old tyre. Guess it has been on the tug and swapped out as the spare. Assume you use a cover on the spare tyre. Even then, eight years!
Still, nice to see there was a good outcome.

Good result over all, and great to see praise where it's due :cup: so many of us are too ready to slag someone but slow to praise, well said gur

That's because no one buy's coopers tyres and they have a huge stockpile. >:D >:D ;D
Joking, quiet a few of my mates run the ST's, but I dont like the amount of chipping that they get. BFG's for me.

If you bought an 8 year old tyre in September last year you have done well...
-
We had an ST go bang, and the service person said the tyre was flat- was fine when we left 40 min earlier. Was also told that the tyre was only under warranty if it didn't go on dirt, which for us is useless for us that live 2.1km down a dirt road.
Great that they looked after you. I'd be staying with that dealer!

I'll say it - why did your dealer sell you 8 year old tyres? ???
-
im thinkn they didnt look either but that was the date of manufacture on the tyre oh well alls well that ends well

...alls well that ends well
Indeed. Both that your wife and kids weren't injured in the original accident, as well as the after-sales service from your dealer.
That's great work on Cooper's behalf - someone with some common sense has got involved and sorted it all out for you. Kudos to them.
Glad to hear it was all a good outcome after everything.
Cheers!
Matto :)
