g'day becboo
i have a 2000 aussie swag in pretty good nick and i would expect to get ~ 10k for it, so for a 2002 model an excellent condition i think the seller would want at least $11-12k for it
hope you get it becboo they are a great camper

G'day Becboo, We have an 01 Rover Ultra which we bought in oct 09, we paid 15k. If i sold it now i'd be thinking around 12-13k. Mind you, i have seen some ridiculous prices for that vintage hard floor campers. Some people seem to want near new prices for them. They are a great product, we have no dramas with ours and its in schmikko condition.
My F-I-L just brought a 2004 pioneer camper with battery system, two 60ltr water tanks, full annex, kitchen, gas bottle holders and storage box for 14k.
I would have thought around 9 - 10 depending on what options it has.
I've got the oct 2001 price list in front of me and a bog standard challenger went for $16330 inc g.s.t
Hope this helps you!

Hi Outback Jack and TC Cocky
Thanks heaps for your responses! Very helpful and helped me decide that I am thinking about the correct pricing for it. I was thinking $12K for it would be reasonable. I am looking forward to seeing it in the flesh but these things take time and it will be good when the road opens so we can go for a drive down south to see it.
Cheers

LOL! Going by that rate, ask them if they'll take $5,000. Is the brochure still in good nick? Becboo might be able to see if they've done any mods to it.
$16,330 / 2001 * 2011 = What ever $ you are willing to pay for it.
Can I just add that we bought a Rover (base model) in 2010 for roughly $38,500 plus extra's. I hope that in ten years of good hard service, I can get $4,500 less than what I paid for it. :cup:

We paid $18,000 for our 2003 A/S challanger last year and it is in great shape.
It came with both annexs, walls and screens. The walls and screens had never been used.
It only had the basic electrics but I have upgraded those...

Gday becboo,I searched australia for an aussie swag (for the right price range )and found i couldnt get a 2002/2004 model, clasic, chalenger,or rover for under about $18,000.00 Looked for 18 months,2years before finding one ,bit the bullit and payed $15.000.00 for a 2003 classic in great cond, fridge&box, full anex 3 gas&jerry can holders, that was 12 months ago, It sold new for $16,500 they just seem to keep their value Couldn't be happier a great trailer.Good luck with your purchase . (remember they are hard to find ) Cheers bob whale.

Hi Swaggers,
Thank you all for taking the trouble of giving me the benefit of your wisdom.
We have gone and done it...... YEP!! We bought it!! YAY!! We committed to it for $13k. It is in fantastic condition. Has the kids room, the small and large annex's, shower room, 40watt solar panel and deep cycle battery. :cup:
Only downer is the current owners don't want to let it go until September. Hence why I said we have committed to it. No money has changed hands but we have all agreed to September. Wow now I know what it feels like to wait for one to be built!!
As soon as we get it we have mods we want to do and will start a thread to show what we are doing.

Congrats on the non purchase ???
Huh? why would you advertise it then?
What if they change their mind again?
I dont understand.....
-
BobWhale, I reckon that's why we went brand spanky new! Much easier to get your hands on ;D
BecBoo, Congrats. But, what's this waiting till September thing all about? Don't they want to sell it? You don't wait that long for one made at Brendale!! Here's hoping they don't trash it before you get your hands on it. I'd be writing down the chasis number and taking photos and comparing them closer to time myself. Seems a wee bit suss to me. I do hope you know these people really well.

Hi All,
Thank you for the advice. Definitely taken all onboard.
The people we are purchasing from work at the RAAF Base up here as do I. There was no advertising done. We were sitting after a meeting talking when we got on to the subject. They are going to be transferred to Darwin at the end of the year and have decided to buy a caravan. We get the benefit of using it if we would like to. Which is huge. If they change their mind, there is not a lot I can do about it and will have to start looking again. The big benefit is that it is an Aussie Swag in fantastic condition AND it is on my doorstep. I live in Weipa and really expected to be driving at least to Brisbane to pick up a camper.
I trust that they will do the right thing. Maybe I am too trusting. I guess that is the biggest difference between us all. Maybe it is because I have always lived in FNQ.
I guess we will see what happens. Many thanks to you all for your help :cup:

Just ask them for either the VIN or a photocopy of the rego as you will need this to get a quote for insurance purpose.
Also has other "benefits" as well.
Just to be sure.
