Title: Auto Gas Price Difference.
Post by: WaituiRob on February 14, 2012, 12:33:55 PM
On our return trip from Nelson Bay yesterday we needed gas at Taree, checked out the Caltex Service Centre on the highway as we went past 81.9 cents / lt. Caltex in Taree 63.9 cents before the 4 cent discount. It seems to me the Service Centres are a big rip off as the unsuspecting motorists travelling the Pacific Highway wouldn`t know there was such a big difference and wouldn`t bother going into Taree. At a saving of $18 - $22 for 100 lts. it`s worth the detour and for those that want Maccas there`s one on the way out of Taree. ;D

LPG in my area tends to always be stable at about 72.9cL but last week it went mid morning to 85.9cL for the week and then back down to its original of 72.9cL, and they dont call this money grabbing??? ??? ??? ???

I feel for you guys.  Gas here is 64.9 less 4/8/10 cents whatever discount you have.

Most we paid on our Sept SA Trip was 89.9 at Wilpena.

The highway service centres are allways more than the town price.  Pay for convenience.

Our Rodeo uses 22/23 litres per 100km whilst towing our 1100kg CT (15 without) .  That equates to between approx $15 and $20 per 100k for towing, which I reckon is pretty good.

BHG, we often find in our travels that Taree is the cheapest. In 2010 we filled up there on our way west for 48 cents, was over a $1 in Wilcannia!

We`re heading south in a couple of weeks time so it`ll be interesting to see what variations there are. I`ve no idea how many litres / 100 klms, that`s not my department, just know the GQ runs best on gas. ;D

BHG, I`ll check it out next time we go, it`s usually Shell but Frank has an account now with Caltex.

When will you be in Harrington ? We`re planning to leave on 24th feb. and staying first 3 days at Bents Basin to catch up with rellies and won`t be back from our trip further south until 21st march.
That`s our grand plan at the moment anyway. :D
