Title: CT in garage - on jocky wheel or not?
Post by: Wargod_70 on January 08, 2012, 07:31:15 AM
Mornin' all,

Quick question, when not using your CT, and assuming you all keep your CT undercover/in the garage - which is best?

A) To leave the CT leaning on its frame - i.e nose down and jocky wheel retracted or
B) standing horizontal i.e. jocky wheel down and supporting the weight?

There is no issue with either of the options you have suggested, but for convenience just use the jockey wheel, that's what it is for.

I stack sleeper off cuts and rest the tow bar on them then just wind the jockey wheel up a couple of cms.

Mine sits in the driveway, under a tarp, for added protection, nose up for water run of, jockey wheel down, doing what it was designed to do..!
Still waiting to find out what option "c" is  ;D c'mon fishfinder,, :D :D

I'm guessing option 'C' is use it  ;)

Hard or pump up tyre can develop a flat spot if left sitting in the 1 spot too long, though not sure of how long is too long!

That's why you have to take the camper out every few months, so the tyre doesn't get a flat spot  :cup:

I just leave it on the jockey wheel as it makes it easier to move around. In the process of building a camper trailer port and small workshop at present. Just got to try and get some concrete at a reasonable price now and it's almost finished ;D

Mines stays in shed, when I had my soft floor I changed the jockey wheel to pneumatic and used to put it a jack stand and wind wheel so it wouldn't go flat in between, now have different camper with rubber wheel and just leave it on that.

Like many, I keep it in the shed and use a jack stand, but with the wheel down, but not weight bearing, easy then to wind it down to move it about.

Any idea why they go flat with a load on them.  Never been able to work that one out  ???

Ours lives in the garage on the jockey wheel with the cover opened a bit to let fresh air in

option c is have it connected to the tow rig waist of time taking it off as you will only have to connect it all up again
