My wife was bitten by a massive jumping ant on our recent camping trip up at Biggera on the Murray and the quick fix for the pain was to break off the leaf off a nearby Bracken bush and rub the juice on it .... the sting ease came out of a 1st aid box later on but wasn't needed .... anymore hints we should keep handy.

Pig face or bi carb to neutralize the acid, if using bi carb make a paste with water and chuck on. basically anything that is alkali

Trouble is you need to be a botanist to apply the right plant!
Standard first aid teaching is ice/cold for insect bites and most spider bites (exception being funnel web spider which is treated the same as a snake bite with pressure-immobilisation).
Bicarb as a solution or paste is good for itch but I don't think acid is the problem with bites. More to do with venom and histamine and other vasoactive mediators. Stingose etc have a local anaesthetic so make it numb.
I've seen cut aloe vera leaves work miracles on mosquito bites.

I used coca cola on a box jelly fish sting it stopped the sting quickly. I was out on a boat and got stung on the arm pulling up the anchor rope.
