According to Michael Palin's character (Lady Presenter)

"Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try to be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try to live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations."

It was pretty much the closing question on Q&A last night. Malcolm Turnbull and Ray Martin agreed for the first time throughout the show on this one - loving your family. They were right.

The Meaning of Life ... who says it actually has to have one?

Sir Attenborough would say to procreate and survive (and he says that quite alot to be honest).  Quite frankly, that's all we are allowed to do as a species.  The smaller decisions in life (marry her, what CT, beer or rum) ultimately mean nothing in the space and time of eternity, as each of us are but one grain of sand on the beach of life, working our way towards death and oblivian.

Tough question , do what you love! Be it work or play.
Never forget family comes first, they can all be gone in an instant..
Take time out for you.
Make time to spend with your kids.
Make time for a few cleansing ales.
Be good to your mum !
Explore Explore Explore

Writing those makes me realise i need to put more effort into all the above..

Use to think that, but now I am 42, I am not too sure!  I agree with the passing on of genes and have been doing my bit at that every chance I get, but maybe there is more to it.  I do the beer bit as well and yes it is a nice part of life but not the meaning.  Boobs, yeap love those too, but again they are a part of the journey, so perhaps it is the journey that is most important and thus the meaning of life.

One of my life motto's:  It's all about the journey.
Another:  De Camino A La Verada (Do not stray from the path).

There are a few others, but those are my fav's.

Ever consider life is nothing more than a randomize accident, you have no purpose or control, it is what it is and then you die.

Cause and effect of being cast extra's in a play about  " closed natural law environment"

A Symbiotic being with finite energy, where chemical precursors convince us to pair up and replicate as a design requirement where in fact we are fooled to believe it's free choice when in fact it's not( hard wired to breed).

We are less than 1% of the worlds species ( variation of types of living organisms) but we consume 90% of the worlds resources.

Looking at the ecological foot print model, threshold shift of change has been ongoing with our complex adaptive ecosystem, and current rate of species replication we need the resources of another 6 planet earths to maintain a balance in finite resources.

Will we be our own undoing or will we have faith in man's ability to restore hope for mankind through technological and sociopolitical advances with intergenerational change.

Historically Anthropocentric attitudes have left a ticking timebomb and without a global shift to deep ecology or Ecocentric principles we could end up like the " Easter Island Scenario"

Meaning of life will varying with timeline, geographical, politcal, sociocultural and religious ideology in other worlds multiple influence where the defined view point constantly evolves.

As for the meaning to life today, it's simply about being good Stewarts of where we live because we are borrowing from our future generations.

I think I need a beer and tv turned over to family guy or simpsons.

Hmmm,
Well, I guess it means something different for everybody.
Kinda like religion I guess.
I was raised in a Catholic house, Gee, I was even an Alterboy until year 7, 1979.
I've come to appreciate the values that my family have given me.
I am far from a practicing Catholic these days.
My thoughts about life and beliefs are
I believe in my family, My family comes first, then my mates/friends, then my community/neighbours, town, State, County.
And if there is a God, I reckon he would be pretty happy with that.
If there's not, Well I've lost nothing.

Happy and safe travels.

When you read somebody's gravestone as their last message to the living it's often the - ( dash) which holds the most significant meaning.

Here lies:

 Fred Bloggs 1930 - 2011

That little symbol the - represents the impression, experiences, love, wisdom we have left on those who mourn our loss, that little symbol - when you think about it, can take a lifetime to earn, that little symbol  can define our contribution to the ever expanding meaning of life, either positively or negatively.

We all earn that little - but in what context is it remembered.

The symbol - becomes the sum of our total experiences in our finite life which defines our individuality & perception, in otherwords that little symbol - becomes a pictorial representation of our meaning to life......

Time for another beer

Cheers
