We have mountain designs wanderer 300 sleeping bags for the kids. They are a -5 bag and you can get them on special for about $80.
A synthetic bag they are easy to maintain and you can get a left and right zip for joining together if you wish to.
Remember when choosing a bag to look at the comfort range and not the lower limit of the bag.
Google sleeping bag ratings and you will find some good info.

I bought a couple from Anaconda and got a pretty good deal, think there on sale at the moment. Something to keep in mind if your going to use them in a swag at a later date probably best to get a swagbag or one that's not tapered.
If you do a search, there was a thread on sleeping bags a while ago that may be of some help.

Kathmandu do some good deals on bags, I've got a couple from there and am very happy with the quality and performance. They had a 2fa special, perfect for a couple of young fellas.

I have & prefer the Roman "Beast" or "Wanderer" just for the size.
