Hi all
My name is Pieter. I'll in the market for a stockman pod.
I joined this forum because I am young enough to know that I do not know everything!
I am planning a Simpson Desert trip for 2012, I'll be the support vehicle for four BMW bikes, that is way I am looking at the light weight pod to carry the fuel. You can remove the camper part of the Pod easily, so it is very flexible.
Anyway, I have some general questions which I'll post in the forum.
Cheers
Pieter

G'day & Welcome Pieter.
Is the Pod capable of carrying the weight of fuel (and other supplies) you'll need?

I was hoping to catch-up with Stockman at the melbourne 4wd show in a couple of weeks.
A guy with a VW did the same as what I aim to do with the Pod - use it as a extra big storage box on wheels, but will first talk the the manufacture at the show.
I am also curious to know if the lid provide any structural strength to the Pod when being towed. I want to remove the tent and lid when i cross the Simpson.
The Pod can carry 750kg without electric brakes. I did not find the electric brake GVM of the trailer on there web-site, but will asked.
I assume that it can carry more since one of the extras is electric brake for the trailer.

I too am a newbe. Welcome. I just checked out the Stockman Pod range. Very nice set ups. I went for a road going camper van from Forest River for my purpose in touring but I enjoy looking at what the off road stuff is like too in this forum. Lots of great information and assistance here on various aspects of touring.

Hi Pieter. Welcome to MySwag

Why not buy an offroad box or bike trailer if thats what you want and sounds like you need?
Sounds like you'll be the recovery vehicle and spares vehicle.

Lost, yes, I am after a off-road box trailer, will google to see what is available in Brisbane. It must be light weight with GVM up to 1,5t. I'll never load it to the max, but better to go for a higher GVM.
The Pod is lightweight with independent suspension and 65L water tank. Un-brake GVM 750kg, not sure about the brake GVM.
