Found this rant on a forum, tell me what you guys think. Was going to get one for my 2.8TD Patrol but now I have second thoughts.

poor blokes $1800 and it hits the drive shaft, missing and damaged gaskets, and overall a poor product by the sound of it

I would say there is enough info there. Any doubt is too much for me

I have a beuadesert system on my Patrol and am very happy

That is discusting, how do these places stay in bussiness, it's not that hard to make an exhaust system, one would assume a professional could do one easy enough.
I bought all the parts needed to make a 3" mandrel bend system and had a mate weld it up for me, 1/2 a day to do the job and fit it, stayed with the factory 2.5" stainless system from just before the rear diff housing to the rear muffler, $380 for the parts, and that included a centre muffler from Vortex in SA ;D
The dearest part was the stainless steel flex joint at $60 (apart from the centre muffler of coarse, $261 on special)
EDIT; that should be $480 not $380

I called Roo/AMMS to get a price on a 3" system, and the sour taste started when I thanked 'Steve' for his time - his response was "So is there any reason why you don't want to go ahead with this?". "Ahh yeah mate, I told you I was calling for a quote". He pushed me a bit until I simply ended the call.
The next day the phone rings - Steve again, pushing for the sale. Told him I was still doing my homework.
Three days later, yep - Steve again. This time I told him outright that he'd just blown the sale with his pushy tactics, and a week later a Scotts Rods system was delivered to my door.
Another data point against these guys - I imported a pair of Baja Designs "Pre-Runner" 6" HIDs direct from Baja Designs in the states, they were on sale at the time for US$220 and including freight they arrived at my door for AU$470 for the pair. Roo is selling the same lights for $495 EACH... I won't deal with a company that thinks that sort of mark-up is justifiable. As the appointed local distributors they will be paying even less per light wholesale than I did as a retail customer.

I don't really have a complaint with the company I bought a chip for my Patrol before we headed off on our Vic High country trip used a heap of fuel the temp gauge was in the too hot zone every hill we hit I took it off and we never had a problem the rest of our trip.
They did refund my money to me only after the peanut I was talking to was trying to tell me the problem was with my car and I got pissed off and told to pull his head in.
I sure as hell know I wont be buying any spotties of them what a mark up

Same here, I made a general enquiry for a price on a chip and exhaust package for my Patrol 2.8. the following weeks I had constant follow up phone calls pushing for the sale until I just told them to go away, don't call me again.

I like people paying $1000+ ($1800 for one? WTF?)for exhaust when you go to your local exhaust place and most will make a custom system up for you fitted for < 700.. been 100's of threads on them over time.
-
Yeah the custom system is a good way to go sometimes, but you need to be sure they're not monkeys. bargains happen too, I got an off the shelf system for my 100 series TD. Its a mild steel(aluminised) mercury 3" including dump pipe, full mandrel bent in 3 sections so not a box of bends welded up, fitted myself and saved a good chunk of cash. the System came off ebay for $625 delivered and it fitted relatively easy..ie it fitted to the factory hangers using the original rubbers, lots of clearance and well tucked up between the chassis. I've seen a few customs that were not nearly as well designed and execution can be a bit hit and miss....mostly hit the chassis and hard to miss the ground;)
-
I have used AMMS and Roo systems a couple of times.
I am more than happy with the quality, service and pricing was significantly cheaper than I had been quoted elsewhere. I will be using them again without question.
Car runs much better. Cruising EGT dropped by approx 50*C water temps dropped by 5-10*C both cruising and under load.
I paid $900 3yrs ago for a Aluminised steel 2.5" mandrel bent system from beaudesert exhaust from headers back (no dump pipe). While $1800 is dear for an exhaust consider that is is Stainless steel.
-
I just had a 3" Stainless exhaust fitted to my Patrol TD42 supplied by Roo Systems. Very Very impressed. I was already running a 3" mild steel system with a dump etc that was flowing very nicely with some impressive dyno results. The new Roo Systems exhause is flowing much much better than the old one. Big thumbs up from me

Well as it turns out i now have a Roo Systems chip installed on my patrol, makes the 2.8 fly!!!!
