Title: Road Conditions Charleville to Longreach and Menindee Lakes
Post by: suziq on May 14, 2011, 05:12:23 PM
Hi All,
I am in the middle of making our trip arrangements for this yrs trip and was wondering if any of you have travelled up North through
to Longreach yet and if so what are the road conditions like? As you know we have had quite a bit of flooding  in Qld this year so the roads could be a bit iffy. We will also going to spend some time around Manindee Lakes and a stay at Bindara Station, I would be greatful to hear if anyone has been around there lately. We do not have a 4x4 but our ute has raised and strengthened suspension.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Sue.

Just got back from a camping trip from Charleville to Cobar, to Broken Hill and then to Mildura and back to Charleville.  Roads are fine.  The road from Charleville to Longreach is good, but there are a few potholes, nothing to really worry about.

As far as i know the road from Broken Hill to menindee (bitumen) is fine, can't remember if the road from Wilcannia to Menindee was open.  The road from bourke to Wilcannia is definetly closed.

Have a good trip

Scott

Thank you Scott,
We are not leaving Cairns until the end of July so by then the roads should hopefully improve. We will not be going off of the bitumen until we leave Manindee for Bindara Station. Hope to see you on the road one day.
  Cheers Sue.
