Title: clothing storage and transport options
Post by: Lex on April 15, 2011, 02:29:33 PM
Hello All.

I am looking at options for transporting and storing clothes in my camper. Currently we just use suitcases in the back of the car and then laid on the floor of the camper. These are bulky and inefficient for travelling with. Adding a draw to my storage area is not really an option so I was more considering camp cupboards or something.

So what do you guys do and what have you seen that works well?

Picture would be cool if you have any.  :D

Depending on the trip, we have two of these blue Spacecases which we pack our clothes in.  Dust and water proof so no need to keep them inside the camper.  On our trip up Cape York, we had one for the adults, and one for the two kids.  But that's a lot of clothes.

We use the zip up front pantries available at any camping store. Seems to do the job. Kids can have a couple of shelves each or what works for you.  ;D

yeah I was thinking about those Gunnado but they seem like a pretty pricey option. They seem like a really good idea.

and Scohill, do you pre-pack them or use something else to transport them?

We to use the pantry idea.
We use a three shelf one,the boys get a shelf each.
Mum & dad get a soft sided bag, because she's tidier and well....
i make clothes last when camping... :D

I am beginning to warm to the cupboard idea and using a duffel bag each.

I think I can get away with one spacecase on the rack...

I bought one of the storage lockers from this seller (outdoorsalesdirect) http://shop.ebay.com.au/outdoorsalesdirect/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25 (http://shop.ebay.com.au/outdoorsalesdirect/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25)

Bought it for less than $200. Is perfect.

Thats the one I was talking about... well done. They are great units!

Mine is brilliant. I used it to secure my trailer in strong winds a few weeks ago at Stockton.

Durable, weather proof and UV stabilised.

Cheers mate! :cup:

Morag and I each use one of these.

Fill it up at home and throw in the back of Nav.
Once the ct is set up we just set them on the floor of the tent...
