All,
HELP!!!!!
Just packing up the camper this afternoon ready for a getaway for three weeks tomorrow. We are meant to be catching up with Broady and the crew in the Flinders on tuesday...BUT!!!
Was doing the final packup and zipping up the cover and whammo! The zip no longer locks together!!!! What a bugger!!!! Does anyone know of any canvas guys who may be able and willing to come in on a Sunday and fix the zip on the cover for my Trackabout camper?
Could care less about cost right now so any leads would be great. Otherwise we will have to see if a canvas maker can fit us in on Monday I guess.
Cheers

Can you throw some ratchet straps over the cover to hold it down?

Mate
Is it a toothed zip or coil? coils are self repairing. Before you ring anyone squeeze the slider together slightly with pliers and try it. It may fix it
-
Darren,
It is most definitely toothed. Tried the squeezing of the slider, using soap and whatever other old wives tricks the wife could find on the internet or from the in-laws and my parents!!!
Ratcheting it down won't work as it is likely to be very dusty where we are going and therefore we will end up with dust all through the tent. Like all good plans, they only survive until the first contact, so we will just be flexible and get it fixed as soon as we can. No dramas just means a day or less on the road.
If this is the worst thing that happens on this trip then it is going to be a very enjoyable one.
Thanks for the quick replies guys.
Cheers

Have you tried rubbing salt along the teeth or pencil?
Just trying to remember the solution from Shanon Lush, the lady that comes on the ABC and gives really good advice on cleaning and fixing things. :cup:
