Hey we are in the process of buying a camper trailor and just wanting some suggestions about different brands and what we should stay away from :cheers:

Rather than "what to stay away from" IMHO you should narrow your search to "Aussie made" companies with a proven track record by being in the business for a number of years.
Stay away from cheap imports unless you are prepared to accept that there will be many things "less than perfect" with them

G'day Katieh, welcome to MySwag! 8)
Rather than asking the question this way, ask yourself a few questions that will help sort out what's best for you.
What's your budget?
Hard floor or soft floor?
How many people in your family?
Fully off-road compatible, or simple box trailer type?
Type of camping you prefer ie caravan parks only, or extreme remote stuff?
Any DIY stuff you're prepared to do?
No point telling you to stay away from a cheapy less than $10k trailer if a $50k + Kimberly Kamper or equivalent is out of your budget, or not to bother with fully independent suspension if you're going out in the boonies!
So tell us a bit about yourself and what you plan to do with your trailer and you'll get more advice you can poke a stick at!

Try and research a "short list". Good luck as there are so many different types.
Work out what you want it for...on road, off road, a couple, a family, short get-a-ways, long trips, cooking indoors, outdoors basically what your style of camping is.
Like Hem said, find an aussie made trailer/ canvas....designed for Australian conditions and weather.
Try and get to a camping show or high different types.
Make the right choice the first time and it will be a good investment.

Ok so we have a full off road trailor which we are thinking about getting the tent to put on top or selling this and buying the whole lot. Our budget for the tent alone would be up to the $3000 mark and for the whole lot about $7000.
We have 2 children so need a bit of room as we have a 4 room tent at the moment which is great but definatly dont need all that space.
We do some pretty extreme 4wding so if buying the trailor as well we will need a good quality one and definatly dont want a crap made tent. Is this better for more info? We are looking at the bluetongue, cig, pinnacle and any others around this price. Does anyone have any experience with these ones? or heard anything we should no about?

If you think your trailer is up to the task then check out the Austrack tents. They are manufactured in China but are good quality. It think they are around the $2600 mark. Others here will be able to comment on likely costs of 'aussie made' canvas but I'm thinking a similar locally made quality tent would be upwards of $6000. I'm sure others will comment.
