Members who have not been active for say 1 year is it worth deleting them. Example not on line for that period.

On another forum I administered any account that did not have any activity for a period of 6 months would get an automatically generated email that would state if no further activity was received in two months their account would be deleted. This cleaned up the forum to regular users.

I had a forum with over 5,000 members + members and 4 million hits a month, so to go through the inactives etc would have been a waste of time and effort. There's enought to do without giving yourself extra tasks
On my forum though you couldn't lurk, you had to log in to view the content.
I sold the forum because it became too much work and i had other things on my plate at the time.

Agreed.
If you dont spend every waking moment possible on here then the CT bug needs to come back for another bite. ;D

The forum I worked on you didnt have to go through the inactives, it was programmed to send a standard email on 90 days of inactivity and delete if no activity for a further 60 days, no extra work it did it by itself. You could set several alternatives but activity was either posts or just looking so as long as you look its counted. Not sure of the setup of this forum and wether it would work here.

what about this.. If you don't use your camper every 2 months you get excommunicated...
Maybe an electric shock delivered through the mouse

Would that be like a Mega to the mouse. ??? You've always got to turn it into an electrical thread Darren.

Perhaps 2yrs might be a better time frame. Some people can have a bit of a change of life circumstances, and can easily miss all the fun on here for 12 months.

Lots of ways to set the forum up, but forums are of the transient variety of person at best, 1 post 10 posts 100 posts they are in their own way contributors, leave them be.. :cup:
