Who's made one. was it worth the bother opposed to buying one
-
I bought mine, but a mate made his for around $100. The most expense was for the bearings he got from CBC. Can't get any pics for you sorry, we are currently at opposie ends of the country.
 Cracka

i've made one..
quite simple
1. plywood floor in the boot, bolted to the child seat anchor points
2. slides from devonannie on ebay
3. plywood base between the 2 slides for the engel to sit on
piece of cake. i'll take some pics if you like when i get a chance

Hi Andrew, I also made mine and the rear drawer set, as said the runners are the dearest around $100 although there are full extension heavy duty ones that I would use next time and are cheaper I think.

I made mine as well with skateboard bearings and some box tube and angle line. Not as good as a pro job but it works for me.

This was in the unfinished stage, I added gas struts to control the drop and of coarse a lick of paint.

Me too -
Locking slide bearings were the expensive and awkward bit ..

Not sure which forum I read it on but there was a guy in the US who made a copy and documented the whole thing with pictures and was hapy to share. Maybe outer limits, maybe 4wd Action maybe just some random forum I was surfing ;D

That's the one.

I made ours as i couldn't buy what i wanted off the shelf anywhere. Used a bunch of 22x8mm and a couple of 50mm bearings and a bit of angle. Would have cost less than $50 and probably took 3 or 4 hours. If you are half handy with a welder it will take you less time.

Anyone got any pics on their DIY fridge slide
How they made it
-
Yes ... Google sketchup ...
and pic on page 1 of this thread .

By looking at most others here, the e-bay bearing tracks seem to be a winner.
I used the same slides off e-bay, slotted them into the alloy frame I made and folded up a stainless carrier for the fridge.
Stainless steel fridge slide all done.

I made mine from basic right angle light gauge steel fitted into a craftwood surround. The craftwood has two coats of thinned estapol to waterproof it.
The runners and latch are from www.ovesco.com.au and allow the engel to clear the body by 60mm. will support 100kilo.

Nice work LDU

Now that's just showing off :cup:

Pinko

What a great job LDU. Do you get any glair flash's when in bright sun ?.
-
Thanks guys. I was going to make them out of timber, but I still can't work out how to weld the stuff together!

Always a good idea to put the sunnies on before opening the back doors.

Here's my attempt not as flash as LDU's bought the runners of ebay

Can't agree with you there. I think what you've done is fantastic!
The e-bay runners are the way to go, and with a bit of creative thinking you can build what ever you please.
