It's only a basic GIC Off-road model but after 10 years of wanting i have finally ordered my first camper trailer ;D. Up till now we have been avid campers but have stuck with tenting with the kids. They're all almost grown up now and I've been after something that will avoid the drama of packing and unpacking camping gear. Hopefully with a camper pre-packed we'll be able to head out at much shorter notice.
I was originally looking at buying a trailer and going with one of the Austrack tents but after spending some time at GIC the other week the wife (she's much better at the bartering than me ) convinced them to throw in the gas struts, kitchen and a water tank all for the base $4700 price. Felt I couldn't go past that for good value :D
Thanks to GU-Thomo I have a great 3-way fridge/freezer and courtesy of the Kangaroo Camping sale the other week I also got some new camping gear to replace my aging cooker & BBQ.
I know it's not a 'proper' off-road trailer but it's something to get us started and I can always upgrade things as I go.
Will pick up on the 22nd just before Christmas ;D ;D ;D and hopefully give it a christening just after.
I've got to say that this is a great community of people. I've been hovering 'in the wings' for quite a while now absorbing lots of information and great advise. Thanks everyone

Welcome robsjack and great news on your new camper. We expect pics once you've picked it up.

Congratulations. A "proper" camper trailer is any which get you out of the house and into the bush, so with that in mind you have a beauty.
Hope to see plenty of pics and trip reports in the near future.

Welcome and good onya mate, enjoy the camper to the max

So your the one that's been crapping all over my nice new canvas! ;D
Welcome aboard. Great news on the purchase mate, plus a few freebies thrown in makes it a sweeter deal. Pre Christmas delivery as well! Someone above must like you.

Sounds like you have grabbed yourself a bargain!!
It will sure beat sleeping on the ground ;D (although I do love the my swag 8))

First mod is already planned - big toolbox for the draw bar. 8) I've got some ideas also to make the very basic standard GIC steel kitchen into something much more useable. It's great to have a wealth of information and examples of other peoples ideas to look at and so help plan my own mods.
Will take a couple of photos when it comes and update from there with the mods. I can see a 12V system not too far into the future >:D

Picked up my new camper yesterday in Sydney and brought it home yesterday evening ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Also stopped and picked up a comfy innerspring mattress and can't wait to put it up for the first time ;D ;D
Will be heading down to Coolendell just after New Year for it's first outing - - Can't wait
The only downer was the minor shock at what the RTA charge these days for rego! >:(
I was expecting the $56 rego fee, $30 plate fee and even the $60 transfer fee but not the $97.00 registration tax >:( >:(. What a rip off >:(

Great time to head off to Coolendel, enjoy your new CT.
Don't go too big with the box; you will fill it to capacity, no matter how large it is.
