Decided to have a day off from digging out the swimming pool On Saturday.
Doing it by hand is good exercise I think and way cheaper than hiring a digger and rooting the pool surface.
Besides, It means on my day off, I can relax..... kick back and do nothing.
Was a bit bored by 8am, so wandered into the shed.
Hmmm, Dougies big ol Tank Fairlane needs some loving and a bit of sugar.
Hand cut, the paint on the roof.
Came up ok too ..... hmmm, there's a big ol power buffer in the cupboard.
Went nuts on the roof and even though the paint is very tired..... she was shining.
Doing the very last bit, I thought..... that buff is running just a tad fast.
YEP, fukkin burnt a very tiny spot of paint on the roof.
BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER.
I then hand cut it again to the point, you can barely see it. (but I can)
Sent a pic of it to the owner.... he's fine with it..... in fact, didn't give a Shit.
He was thrilled with the shine.
Fixed the big steel sunvisor brackets where they mount on the roof, as they were way short of being good.
Lubed the boot and bonnet catches.
Set the float levels on the carb.
Found the reason the throttle didn't always go back to a proper idle.
The return spring (only one) wasn't really enough.
Pissed around, found a spring that would be perfect.
Ran the first spring up the inside of the second spring.
At first glance, it looks like it still only has one spring, it works and is much safer now.
The throttle is still nice and light too.
The boot lid has/had a fair bit of surface rust getting a hold.
That's now gone and ready for a hand cut n polish.
Not sure if I want to use the buff on here, but if I do, it will be a bit slower.
Might bung the ol tub up on some stands today.
It feels like the R/R brake shoes are dragging a tad.
The bloody thing is so low, it will make it easier to polish being up in the air too.
