Lifestyle walk through or extenda?
« on: July 07, 2013, 06:16:54 PM »
Hey guys long time lurker first time poster. I am currently in the market for a CT for my family of 5 and have pretty much narrowed it down to these 2, my question is the Extenda worth the extra 5k? The main difference I can see is imported vs aussie mad canvas. Any current owners of these 2 care to share their thoughts?

Thanks
Gav

We have an Extenda Elite. Purchased in October 2010. We love it.

We had a Jayco Swan and had to crawl over each other, never again. The extra room is great with our two kids and all their gear.

We have a walkthru, I have found that the tent is the least impressive part of the camper. You can tell its not an Aussie tent.
In saying that, I haven't really had any issues with the camper or the tent, there were a few bent poles when I had the tent setup in the backyard doing mods ( so no guy ropes) and we had a massive downpour, I did feel better about the poles when I found out that the SES had call outs all over the place and lots of roof damage was experienced... Hey if a proper roof couldn't hold upto the storm I can't expect much from poles right!

We are a family of 5 and the extra tent room is worth it, from memory the walkthru is a 12ft tent and the other is 10ft.

There is a water pooling problem on the ends of the annex roof, but we fixed that by adding an extra support pole.

Given the choice again I would still choose the walkthru.

If you have any questions, just ask.
We have done heaps of mods to ours and we are pretty pleased with it!

Our family of 5 got the extenda.,  the walk thru wasn't around then,  but one of the reasons why I went lifestyle was the 10 ft by 10 ft tent, this gave plenty of room for the three stretchers on the floor, with room left for play board games etc on wet days.  I did not want the 12 ft tent as they were just to big IMO.

If buying now I would probably go the extenda again as I don't like 12 ft tents but the 5 k buys a lot of diesel to tow it with,

Hi Gav,

We are another Lifestyle Extender user.
The walk through is one of the reasons we bought our CT as we did not like the idea of climbing over each other to get into and out of bed. The added bonus is the extra storage space.
They may cost a bit more but you will not regret this in the long run.

Thanks guys, 5k does buy a lot of diesel.  I think I could probably live with the imported ten. Would the tent accommodate 33" tyres?
