Help or advice needed
« on: May 18, 2021, 09:49:49 AM »
I have a custom teardrop trailer that I want to truck from Perth to Melbourne.
Several quotes have ranged from $1450 to $2550.
Does anyone one have experience or knowledge that might provide a realistic price.
The shipment needs to go in the next couple of weeks.
Details: 4.3. long, 1.7m wide. 1.9m high, weight ~600kg
Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind it being towed, get onto the 4WD association over there. They will do a callout to the clubs. You might be lucky to jag someone going east on hols and it'll cost ya a bit of fuel money.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply.
I have found a company, Jayde Tpt, that specialises in the transfer of cars, campers and caravans. They will do it for $700. I can live with that.

Sounds like a great result.

For interest sake, I received the following quotes, Perth to Melbourne.

1. $1450

2. $2550

3. $695

There is a major disparity with pricing and reinforces the need to shop around.
The trailer is going to the cheapest quote which is a reputable company.

I'd say the high price was a try on by somebody who really didn't want to do it, the middle price was somebody who wasn't keen but would if you paid and the third was, as you say,  from a business that does that work regularly.

See quoting like that a bit.

Good result.
